I agree that Mayo is better at scoring within the flow of the offense. Is he a better player? Tough to say. I definitely like him a lot better though...he's finally playing like we thought he could since his rookie year.

I'ts really annoying that people say he can't create his own shot or attack the rim...OJ is the whole package. He can shoot the 3, drive, put it on the floor and shoot from mid-range.

Good win for us though, we needed it.

he did, that's how Mayo went for that 16 pt outburst in the first quarter. after that, he had douglas on him.

Mayo was hitting all types of nonsense in that first quarter though. Parsons had contested alot of those shots but Mayo was on fire.

Delfino sagged off him far too much in that 4th quarter.

Parson's too big. Douglas was playing defense, and he was generally fine. Most of it was Mayo hitting tough shots...aside from that last shot which I'm utterly infuriated about.

Driving into the lane hard and drawing fouls is impressive. Driving in soft and getting whistles just because you brush against someone is not impressive. Its called flopping. I'm calling him James Soften from now on.

You go ahead and do that. After having watched Kevin Martin play and comparing him with Harden, it's clear that you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to driving in and drawing fouls.

Did harden sleep with your mother and sister in the same night or something? The amount of haterade in you is astonishing.

It's not that Mayo is totally ineffective at driving, but he's definitely a jump shooter. He's averaging 3 shots at the rim and 4 FTA per game, which is fairly underwhelming. He's also assisted on almost 60% of his shots. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Of course, as long as he can keep shooting >50% from 3 him being primarily a jump-shooter is fairly moot.

Mayo had 40.

Harden had 39.

Mayo made every shot he took. Harden was doing Harden things. Driving to the rim, finishing in the paint, drawing fouls, hitting 3s, creating off the dribble.

Harden is a far \more complete offensive player.

Harden's ability to get to the rim makes him a bit of a better player, imo.

But yeah, his FTs are ridiculous.

Also 17fga to 26. Both of those numbers are great, but one is still better.

Mayo's shot is so pure. He made 3 straight pull up shots in transition without hesitation. Nobody in the world could defend him tonight with the way he shot the ball.

Actually the baskets count the same, it's like a 40 point game.

Great game by Mayo, but this thread title isn't accurate. It should read "against the Rockets." Harden wasn't the defensive assignment on Mayo.

Pfft. Haven't you heard shooting guards can only guard the opposing shooting guard?
