This years class is really weak... Next year Wiggins is said to be the best SF prospect in the last 10 years, and a once every 10 year prospect... like Lebron, Durrant, Durrant etc.

Done deal for me.

I say we just make this a trade idea thread... we need one of those to just brain storm trades

It says nothing about why the Jazz would want this deal. I guess since you're getting it off the Lakers board its to be expected.
I am starting to like the sounds of a Millsap for Gasol deal though. There's just no way we roll with Earl and Tinsley as our only pg's. That would be the worst tandem in the league.
Expected ?.....expected ? Dude came on our board and posted that garbage trade in our trade thread.

In reality though Pau won't be moved unless he continues to sink even when Nash comes back. By that time they'll have no choice.

Lakers trade:Pau gasol, earl Clark, Blake, and sacre....for Ellis, dalembert (expiring), and ersan

Flip Monta Ellis and add darius morris, and devin ebanks for mo Williams (expiring), gor  dan hayward and a pick

What you guys think? You need a strong sf who can score, rather than another big?

Hi guys, posted this on the Suns board, interested to hear your thoughts:

nevetsov wrote:Thoughts on Gortat and either Beasley or Frye for Al Jefferson?

From a basketball standpoint, I think it makes more sense for Utah than us - Jeff and Millsap both expire at the end of the season and while it's clear that Favors and Kanter are the future, they will need a tandem that will both be able to temporarily start until those two are ready, but potentially move to the bench over the next couple of years (not getting paid 10+mill to do so either).

To retain both Jeff and Millsap, theyll have to commit long term money of around $20-25mill per which may inhibit the ability to resign their young guys. All guys mentioned from PHX meet the criteria of short term starters/ good quality reserves on about $6m per.

Example - doing Gortat and Frye for Jefferson - Jazz this year:

Millsap, Favors (Frye injured)
Gortat, Kanter

Next year:

Favors, Frye
Gortat, Kanter

You could replace Frye with Beasley (I'd probably push for this) to give them additional depth this year behind Marv Williams at SF, and have him move to his preferred PF next season.

For PHX, they get a legitimate interior scorer and while his D isn't stellar, he's no worse than Beasley and and at least can rebound the basketball. He provides a short term answer at the C spot and allows us to ditch around $13m of salary next year.

Dragic, Telfair (exp)
Brown, Tucker
Dudley, Johnson (exp)
Morris, Scola
Jefferson (exp), O'Neal (exp)

Look to sign Mayo next year and sign/ draft a C.

I'd even throw in Marshall if need be.

FYI Kendall Marshall was the 13th pick in this year's draft, widely regarded as the 2nd best PG prospect behind Lillard. Can't get a run in PHX, stuck behind Dragic and Telfair who is playing really well for us.

So what's the price tag on Millsap if he's still here by the deadline?

Not thinking deeply about it, Gortat and Marshall for Jefferson seems very appealing at a glance.
