Is that saying he feels Petersen will be at Wisconsin or Kiffin?

I cannot imagine the Badgers hiring Lane Kiffin.

I read it as USC may fire Kiffin to hire Peterson because they don't think Peterson will be available after this off season because he's (presumably) going to take the Wisconsin job. If USC opened up I'd have to imagine Peterson would jump at the opportunity.

That's really the big concern for me with regards to hiring Peterson, assuming he's actually interested. How long will he really be here? As soon as the job at a USC or an Oregon opens up would he really stay at Wisconsin?

Like I said, Oregon is opening up in a matter of weeks and everyone knows this. If he takes the job at Wisconsin he knows he's passing up Oregon, assuming they even want him. Remember, Kelly was only hired because he had fundamental knowledge of the system Oregon runs; Peterson doesn't.

If Peterson has eyes on USC he probably doesn't take a job at Wisconsin, he could simply wait.

But all this is under the assumption Peterson is remotely interested in Wisconsin. That still seems unlikely to me, given he would have had his choice of SEC jobs.

Another interesting question. When Chip Kelly takes an NFL job, does he bring that system or something like it to the NFL? Would it even work? If so, he's not running that thing with Josh Skelton, Henne/Gabbert, or Ryan Suckpatrick, right? I guess maybe he could take over in Carolina or get Geno Smith at Arizona or something...

Bobby Petrino is officially off the market. This tweet made me laugh as well.

If Stave can play, I'd start him. Better arm and more mobile. Adds another dynamic to the offense.

I think if Petersen comes here it's due to a combination of seeing a formula for success to win here and a comfort level of living in Madison. Someone said it before, but UW is a pretty nice and unique combination of big school with good resources but not in a crazy stressful environment like any SEC school brings. Pretty similar to Boise, but better.

I think strong respect for Alvarez would probably be a big factor too.

That too. Not only respect, but if anyone can sell the prospects of winning and living in Madison, it's Barry. I like our chances if we can get him in Madison. With Barry sweet talking him while he sees what it would be like to live in Madison.
