Well a corner 3 for Amar'e isn't like 'camping out at the 3 point line'. It's a very good weapon to have for a guy who can then slide into the paint for back door cuts or weak side paint attack. It keeps the paint open for the pick & roll with Ty/Felton or post play from Melo and makes him a kick out option that can convert. Then if his guy goes to double off him he can creep in to finish at the basket or rebound putbacks. It's not like he's way out at the top of the key or wing not able to rebound. He wouldn't be clogging the paint or useless, he would be fitting into the flow of the offense.

I've seen some plays the Knicks have been running with KT as the high picker staying out for a pop and Ty running the baseline for oops and paint finishes that Amar'e can be running when he comes back from either spot. He can run the baseline like Ty has but with expanded range or be the high screener and spot up for the pop since he has a mid range jumper. I've seen some plays that start with Felton in the corner and a screen set for him by a big that Amar'e will be able to do either to stay out for a corner 3 or run to the hoop for a finish. So many options if he has range out to that corner.

It's going to be devastating, I feel Woody is going to know how to make it work.

yeah i have full confidence that woody will put Amare and Shumpert in places to succeed because that is what "good" coaches do.

I thought Amare trying to add a 3 point shot last summer really hurt his mid range game.

In 2010 he was automatic in the mid range. Then he got suspect when Dan Dummy asked him to add a 3 point shot. Basketball players are about repetition and confidence. As long as his mid range is working he will space the floor plenty imo

I don't like the wing 3 or top of the key 3 for Amar'e...too far from the basket for him and away from his normal game. The corner 3 is a different animal though, it's a spot that allows a player to slide along the baseline into the paint to finish or rebound much easier than camped way out on top.

His mid range jumper is great for pick and pop or weak side kick outs that keeps him close enough to the paint to attack the basket for finishes or put backs... if he tried to stretch it out to 3 from there it becomes a liability.

Can't wait for him to be back. We don't really have a legit #2 option on this team and Amare will give us that.

Kidd, Ray, and Prigs will all help him feast when he gets back.

Sheed will space the floor for him too.

It will be exciting to watch when Amare and Shump are both back.

So Brewer will eventually lose his spot to Shump in the rotation?

Likely candidates are Brewer and Prigs.

I really have only viewed him as depth, insurance, and an extra defender to throw at LeBron and to a lesser extent...Pierce.

All of what's being said on this last page is why I haven't stressed about how Stat will produce unlike some other Knicks fans who think he'll fu*k everything up. Look at Melo as a perfect example, he's thriving with three PG's who actually know how to pass the ball & have the veteran experience to look him off and instead go for a better pass.

Not to mention Melo respects Kidd & Felton as well as having a no-nonsense coach in Woodson who commands defense & locker room vets who will explain things that need to be explained.

I expect all of those things I listed will be the same for Stat, no worries.

Brewer is a lot more than that, and once Woodson realizes that he should start cutting back on JR Smith minutes. Hopefully they'll be no more than 25-27 MPG for JR once Amar'e & Shump gets back.

I really want to see Stoudemire back. Some of y'all got to see him in that one pre-season game, but I couldn't even watch that game. I haven't seen him since the end of the playoffs (when he was playing with one hand). He should be much more than a "good rotation player." He has potential to be as important to the Knicks as Anthony is, especially if he steps up his defensive/rebounding like Anthony has so far this season.

If Smith continues to play like he has, I would definitely cut into his minutes for Shump rather than Prig/Brew.

However we all know Woodson's man-crush for Smith.

I think Brewer knows why he is here, and while he hss certainly performed above snd beyond, he is a situationalrole player, but will be of high use in the situations described.

Honestly not worried about Amare at all, he'll find his wsy in.

Jr....25 minutes will do, his shot is erratic but he does other things well.

Im so excited to see this. Not as worried as the national media. Woodson and our pgs will make this work.

I don't know, but I just feel like it will work with Amare. Woodson has worked wonders with this roster, and I just feel that STAT, working incredibly hard to come back, and knowing that the team has a great shot at doing something special this year, will do whatever he's asked to help the team win. Maybe that's coming off the bench? I don't think STAT would mind, the media will make something out of it, but he just wants to win. And maybe it's just me being a loyal STAT fan, but I think he can make it work.
