Joe Schad ‏@schadjoe
Wisconsin gauged interest Al Golden according to a source, but he is not entertaining interest from the Badgers or other colleges now.

Wisconsin would have bonuses like that for beating Minnesota but they don't want the athletic department to go broke constantly paying for that. ;)

I didn't get the Al Golden love anyway.

Sure Miami was a bit of a mess on-field under Shannon, but the talent is certainly there as the guy could recruit like a madman. Golden hasn't exactly run with the torch in his time there.

Agreed but he is somewhat a proven commodity....I really want someone I know can coach and recruit, there is talent coming back and coming in, personally I would be disappointed with a college assistant who has proven nothing and would have a learning curve.

What is Randy Shannon up to nowadays anyway? Remember when he was rumored to be in contention for the WI DC position after Doren left? He might be a sleeper pick for the Badgers.

Edit: Looks like he is the LB coach at TCU. What a career fall for him.

He only sticks around because he can recruit like crazy. He was a disaster as a coach.

I'm not sure why, but I really think it will be Chris Petersen.

Unsubstantiated gut feeling.

Heard from a stalker source:
So apparently there have been flights into Madison from Corvallis and South Bend. One could deduce that Diaco came in for an interview, but that Corvallis plane has me excited. Mike Riley (assuming its him on the plane) would be a HUGE get. He's one of the best coaches in CFB IMO.

Would absolutely love Diaco. Doubt that Riley is a possibility, but he would be a fantastic get as well.

One other guy that has been flying up my list:

EDIT: Wasn't Diaco from South Bend. He was interviewing for the Temple job today per Twatter. Could have been Chuck Martin, another nice candidate.

Man, I'd be shocked at Mike Riley, just based on what I've heard from my friends that went to school there. He'd obviously be a great get, especially after the pleasant surprise of a season they had. I suppose he may want to get out from the the Oregon shadow, so who knows.

The whole "flights in" or "spotted in Madison" thing has extremely limited value, tbh. From what I've heard, Bielema didn't fly down to Arkansas until he received an offer and closed the deal.

With all of the pressure on coaches, it would make more sense to Skype it in or do a phone call.

I say get Mike Gundy, then instruct local media to write disparaging articles on the players every week. Grab popcorn.

Yeah, likely nothing awesome comes from that news... Just not much information to discuss today, so thought it'd be fun to speculate. :) Mark Banker seems to be the more likely candidate over Riley, after thinking more about it...

Word is that Paul Rhoades wants the job, but Barry hasn't offered him yet. He's growing on me in a hurry.

Razorback Football ‏@RazorbackFB
Chris Ash, who helped lead Wisconsin to three straight Rose Bowls, has been named Arkansas' defensive coordinator. http://bit.ly/ZcmIpO

Staying with the Badgers through the Rose Bowl though.

That was expected. Not a big deal to me. Partridge likely to be promoted to D-Coordinator, I'd guess.

Diaco would be interesting. Maybe doesn't want any distractions until after the title game but I can't see us waiting that long. And I agree, I don't think these guys (at least the high profile ones) will show up in Madison until after a deal is done. And Barry has no time to go anywhere right now himself.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Which is why I do not like him prepping for this game before a new HC is hired.

He said he wouldn't be doing any game planning himself, he'd strictly be a gameday manager/figurehead. I doubt he's been doing anything but working on the coaching vacancy since Bielema left.

Yeah, I know that's what he said. I believe he has been more involved than has been reported. I do have faith he is working hard finding a successor, and he just came out and said he hopes to have extended an offer before Christmas, but Barry has an ego the size of Texas and loves being in the spotlight-- he is loving being a coach again, temporarily.

2 more weeks is a long time to wait, makes me nervous about recruit poaching getting more prevalent.

I heard some of Barry on a radio show, he was cracking wise that all the guys he was interested in have jobs now....I just got a strange feeling he already has his guy.
