Clippers trade Lamar Odom
Magic trade Al Harrington
The Magic are in rebuilding mode and with Odom's expiring contract, it will free up cap space. The Clippers get that forward who can stretch the floor.
How about this:
Clippers trade Caron Butler, Eric Bledsoe and Grant Hill
Outgoing salary: $13M
Magic trade Glen Davis and Al Harrington
Outgoing salary: $13M
Davis is a proven commodity backing or starting at the 4 or 5. He's a total team player willing to come off the bench, start or mentor young guys. I think his influence and contributions would be a big boost, especially with his experience as a Champion in Boston and his experience as a team leader in Orlando. Some guys have difficulty coming off the bench and providing an instant impact. Davis doesn't. Whether backing up KG or Dwight, Davis found ways to come in and be effective right away. Harrington can play off the bench at the 3 or 4 and he gives the Clippers an added dimension being a big who can stretch the floor with his 3 point shooting. Harrington is a low risk acquisition because the last 2 years of his contract are partially guaranteed. If the Clippers waive him after the season then he is only owed $3.5M in each of the next two years. Getting Butler's $8M contract off the books for this upcoming summer would also give the Clippers added flexibility with their cap space. Which alone could be HUGE. Losing Bledsoe is the main cost for this trade, but I think the immediate return combined with the low risk (proven vets, manageable contracts) makes this a good trade for the Clippers.
Magic do it to acquire Bledsoe, try to turn him into a starting PG (which is a questionable task)... but Bledsoe's stock is high right now even with a questionable shot and poor assist to turnover ratio. Maybe Jacque Vaughn, a player's coach and a former PG could help him take his game to the next step. Magic aren't gonna be huge player's in FA next summer because they still have salaries like Turkoglu and Nelson. So taking on Butler isn't an issue. The summer of 2014 is where they have their eye on clearing their cap.
Thoughts?

My main thought is that this thread should be locked until the end of the playoffs, in order to spare us from having to read completely useless posts like the one above.

Sorry you got offended. Didn't mean to upset you. It's just a post on a public forum, so don't let it ruin the rest of your day or be the cause of closing this thread.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
so, you think glen davis is a better mentor than grant hill?
al harrington is the better fit to start at SF over tuffjuice?
AND you want our mini lebron for.... nothing?
i have a counter offer.
you give us aaron affalo and your first, we give you lamlam. i won't bother with a long irrational reasoning but just say it will work out for both parties

Grant hasn't ever been on a team that's won a championship, so I really know that he understands what it really means to be a Champion. Mainly though, think Davis can provide more production than Hill though. I don't know who tuffjuice is. Harrington is just a sort of x factor type guy who would help you relieve some cap if you waived him. I thought dumping Butler's contract would be good and Davis and Harrington would be able to help the Clippers depth.

If you're looking for SG help what about?
Clippers trade Bledsoe, Butler, 1st rounder
Magic trade Redick, McRoberts, 1st rounder
Salaries match. Redick and McRoberts both are expiring and the Magic's 1st rounder will be significantly higher than the Clippers first rounder. Since Grant Hill and Willie Green's contracts are not guaranteed next year, the only guys you'd have on the books if you released them are Jordan, Griffin and Crawford, leaving you with a lot of cap flexibility.

How exactly is Redick and a Magic first rounder garbage? SMDH. Redick is a great player that would complement the Clippers very very well. Get off that ****...

why don't you get off your trolling high horse? what makes you or any other trolls think we are breaking up our roster that just won 17 in a row and have the best record in the entire NBA?
fact #1 : eric bledsoe is one of the hottest, and greatest trade assets out there, peroid
fact #2 : eric has another year after this season on his rookie contract, and even after that he is a RFA. we can match any offer if we choose to
fact #3 : ask any scout right now, bledsoe >>> reddick on potential alone, then there is the size of the contract issue with reddick. we don't need that.
fact #4 : caron maybe overpaid, but his attitude and his shooting ability along with his size makes him already a great fit
fact #5 : chauncey > reddick
fact #6 : we have depth to withstand injuries, which has struck bigshot and grant hill, once they are back our roster does not even have anymore room for playing time. in fact, the proposed trade will result in zero playing time for reddick once playoff comes and we have healthy chauncey to start and our 6th man crawford to back him up.
so get your trolling behind outta our forum.
please.
ehhhhh f it.

What do you think about, Kings's pick 7-8th for Bledsoe straight up? you can grab Marcus Smart and pair him with Paul as your future SG, with Billups-Crawford off the bench.

or we are doing the smart thing by not exposing him to too many minutes and his flaws, by limiting his minutes and skyrocketing his value.
either way, we still have him for at least 1 more year until we have to worry about matching any RFA offers. the time to trade him is after this season, after CP3 signs the dotted line for the max extension.
ehhhhh f it.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
hmmm... i wonder........ would anyone entertain the idea of grabbing terrence ross from toronto ?
we all know CP3 is signing that extension, and EB is going to get 8-10mill elsewhere, so trade idea for next year:
grab ross, davis + 1st rounder for eb+others?
Calderon is on his last year of his contract, he's going to demand more and probably get more elsewhere, they were banking on lowry this season, and next year will be lowry's last. EB would be way better and they 'should' have cap room to match eb for any price.
ross is very....... kobe-esque in skill... and with cp3/bg being the big bosses, i def think we can get ross to his potential very quickly without the kobe-esque selfishness
=X just an idea. we can also mold ross into a sf, he's going to need to bulk up though, probably add another 20 lbs or so

That's a lot of pieces we would have to give up, and Terrence Ross is showing some nice potential for us, while Ed is likely our future starting PF for the time being.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
