Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Here's 2013
The Suns have a very interesting set of draft picks coming up in 2013, with all kinds of conditions on them. But listed below in the most likely scenario:
2013 Draft:
Top-10 pick (Suns own pick)
15-25 pick (worst of Minnesota or Memphis*)
25-30 pick (worst of Lakers or HEAT**)
30-40 pick (Suns own second round pick)
45-55 pick (Denver's second round pick)
That's five picks, all bunched together. Three of them in the first round. There are some conditions:
*Minnesota must make the playoffs for this pick to transfer in 2013. Otherwise, it rolls into the first year they do.
**If by chance the Lakers MISS the playoffs this season (they are 9-12 right now), the Suns get their pick outright. LOL.
Not sure about the rest of the years

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Is Amare still an option for a trade?
Dump in all of our bad contracts, and since this FA class sucks anyway, we wont miss out muh on the lack of cap space.
At this point, I actually might do it.

Gortat and Markieff + 2 First Round Picks Top 7 protected ??
I am dreaming...
Good thought, I thought the same too. Why not unprotected for Love? He's 24 and nearly a centerpiece to build around. Is he better than the top 3 in the draft? Markieff or Dudley & Our 1st this year.

Cap space means more than signing people in FA, it gives a ton of flexibility when working on trades. The Suns need to be patient with their capspace until they acquire enough assets to make significant moves.

That ship has sailed my friend.
I was happy with the decision 2 years ago. If we were going to keep him, we would have.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but Kevin Love would be an amazing get.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Thanks for digging that info up rsavaj - I'm thinking our own first rounder in the upcoming draft could be very valuable, and the abundance of picks could be nice assets if we wanted to use them + a player to get a higher second pick that night.

Yes 'Love' is a fantasy
But that Monster Pekovic ..... I would be pigsh*t pleased if somehow we could turn theG into theP
This team needs a couple of large nutted men to shape things up.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
I would only make a move for Love if it doesnt involve future picks.
Because whats the point of getting Love now, then he leaves in 2014 to LA anyways..?
He was a UCLA star... family and friends there.... stuck at the icy Minesota at the moment... just too many factors favouring LA.
So Suns have like 2 years to build a contender with Love or he bolts, only way he will sign extension is if the Suns have the pieces (ALL of them) to contend by 2014...... Love is only 25% of the pieces... many transactions need to happen to make it worth while to get Love IMO.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
I'm beginning to think that the Lakers might be desperate enough to take Beasley on in a trade.
I'd ask for Jordan Hill.
I'd also try to trade Bassy and Jermaine to a contender that desperately needs help at the PG and C spots....like the Lakers. I don't even care if you can only get one first rounder between the two of them combined...stockpile the assets.
Last order of business would be the Gortat dilemma....which I have no answer for.

The Suns decline to give him a 5 year max because the doctors said his body only had 1 or 2 high level years left in it... after 2 years the docs have been proven absolutely right so now we trade for 3 years of a broken down shell of a player?
If we're looking for ways to STAY awful that would be a good start.

I do like Kerrsed's idea of shipping Gortat to Milwaukee.
If we can nab Larry Sanders and a pick I would be happy.

i was under the impression that if Memphis made the playoffs we would get their pick via Minny. Because if Memphis makes the playoffs, their pick would transfer to Minny. if Minny misses the playoffs and Memphis makes, obviously Memphis' pick is less favorable and would transfer to the Suns. the wording i've read is a little cloudy, so i'm not 100%

I love Pekovic. We absolutely need somebody like him.
If the Lakers miss the Playoffs and we get their pick, I'd consider this season a huge success. Very unlikely though.
