With Ash gone to Ark, Diaco just makes the most sense IMO.

He can take over the defense, leaving Canada at OC (not thrilled), and keep much of the offensive coaching staff in place.

IIRC, Peterson is an offensive guy, meaning UW would have to hire a new DC as well.

While UW will still hire a DC, I'm sure it will clearing be Diaco's defense.

Yep, even the most casual college football fans know who he his.

:reporter: Good detective work Riot.

 I'm probably dead wrong, it just feels like everything is aligning that way. Barry was chuckling and being sort of cocky in interviews yesterday. Convinced he has his man ready to go. Could be Tucker, could be Diaco, could be Petersen. It's just too coincidental not to mean something that Barry set his deadline two days after the Broncos bowl game

DrugBust wrote:Peterson would make a good number of experts in the media look like complete asses. Zero. Point. Zero. seems to be the chances they're giving the Badgers of landing him.

Yup. Barry is playing this so close to the chest, none of them know dick about what's going on. It just feels like Barry has hit a home run with the way he is acting. My grandma ran into Cindy Alvarez the other day and she said Barry is a kid in a candy store right now.

.

There has been talk of Partridge being promoted to DC. But yeah, Diaco makes a lot of sense too.

One of the boards said that Buh and Partridge are already gone to Arky as well.

Count me in as a guy that liked some of the quirks Canada added.

MJS:

Madison – Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, speaking Wednesday afternoon on “College Football Playbook” on SiriusXM Radio, shed a bit of light on his search for a new head football coach.

According to Alvarez, he has interviewed two candidates.

One is known to be former UW defensive back Melvin Tucker, currently the defensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tucker said recently he was not interested in the UW job at this time.

“I’m expecting a call from one (candidate) today to set up an interview,” said Alvarez, who was in his UW office. "There is speculation here every day.

“But they’re just random names being thrown out with no substance.”

UW has lost one assistant so far. Defensive coordinator Chris Ash has agreed to join former UW coach Bret Bielema at Arkansas.

Alvarez reiterated Wednesday the other staff members are weighing options while UW searches for a replacement for Bielema.

“I’m impressed with this staff,” Alvarez said. “I have no problem recommending any of them to whoever is here next.”

Question: If Petersen is already locked up, why is he even going to coach Boise in their bowl game? It's not like it's a BCS game. You'd think it would be best if he just took the job immediately and began recruiting and solidifying the class like every other coach when they take a new job prior to bowl season.

I think that article hints even more that it's going to be Tucker.

Homer said supposedly Alvarez is in Toledo today to interview Mike Campbell.

And for those who say he already has his guy, as said earlier in this thread BA was criticized for not conducting a real search before hiring BB.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Not Mike Campbell...much worse, Campbell already left for his bowl game on Monday....

I would fire Barry if the DB gets hired.

So did i and i hope he's retained by whoever Barry hires.

Give Canada a solid to good QB and i see the offense thriving.

Can't see that Bowling Green guy getting hired. That would be MUCH worse than what the Gophers settle for in Kill. If he is actually meeting with him then it's just to add another person to the interview list like MD suggested.

Yuck. Career record of 80-76 at Fordham, Richmond, and Bowling Green. We can do better than that.

My old man just talked to a friend, who he called "a very reliable and well-connected source", who is also a big booster, and he guaranteed that the new HC would be Chris Petersen or Bob Diaco. Said that Petersen was indeed in Madison on Monday for an interview.

So take that for what it's worth, I guess.

I'll take Petersen over Diaco. But I'm fairly ambivalent about Diaco anyway.

I would definitely prefer Petersen by a significant margin, but there is a lot to like about Diaco. Him, Tucker and Rhoads are all neck and neck at #2 on my short-list right now. Probably:

1. Petersen
2.a. Rhoads
2.b. Diaco
2.c. Tucker

Reading all the tyea leaves leads me to believe it's Petersen.

Just a hunch.

Alvarez appears WAYYYYYY too content and coy right now for this to be a flop of a hire. The start date is the Monday following Boise's bowl game. If we were hiring a lower level coach, it'd be done and that guy would already be out recruiting/assembling a staff like Bielema is doing.

My list would be:

1. Petersen, obviously the jackpot.
2. Tucker
3. Diaco

Id be more than happy with any of the three.

Why is there so much love for Tucker? I get the connections to Barry and NFL ties, but why do some of you all like him so much? Just curious not trolling.
