Calderon is going to expire after this year and they'd probably include him in the Nash deal. Lowry could easily be traded elsewhere if they wanted to move him but the reason Toronto does it is more likely so they can bring home the prodigal son. Keeping both Lowry and an aging Nash for a year or two probably wouldn't be too tough on them.

Kobe's solution to the Lakers having problems is to shoot more and care even less on defense.

Like a hard-line NFL coach whose players tune him out after a while IMO the rest of the Lakers are tired of giving the extra effort on D to cover for Kobe.

Lakers are going to get a beast in the 2013 draft, I just know it. :banghead:

On the flip side, if we keep it together the Jazz will get a pretty crappy 1st round pick from us.

The Lakers 1st round pick will end up in either Cleveland or Phoenix. The only lotto protection is for which team gets it.

It's a bit confusing, but I think that Phoenix gets the pick if it's in the lottery, but if LAL make the playoffs then Cleveland gets the better of the LAL 1st and the Miami 1st while Phoenix gets the other one. If I have that correct then Phoenix is rooting even harder than the rest of the league for a Laker collapse.

You've got it right. Every lakers loss makes me happier than it has in any other season. Plus 2015 unprotected pick to the Suns as well. If Dwight leaves this summer I will throw a sweet rave party. Even better is the fact that they don't have too many pieces to improve themselves with.

LAL gave away the house, in cap nightmare, and maybe no Howard. I love this new CBA.

Would what's happening to Kobe and the Lakers ever have happened to Michael Jordan?

That's the difference between the two guys. Kobe might match him in terms of physical talent and ability to put the ball in the hoop, but in terms of intangibles he's a bench warmer.

This will be a fantastic end to Kobe's career. Him alone -- likely after Dwight walks, Nash gets dealt, and Pau is forced out-- and a bunch of mediocrity.

I think that is why Kobe isn't at the same level of Jordan. Had Jordan not been asked to stay away from basketball (his baseball endeavor) there would be no comparisons.

I think only Lakers fans put Kobe anywhere near Jordan. IMO, Kobe is more like a chippy Dominique Wilkins than Jordan. Great scorer, but can't raise the talent of his teammates, largely due to his selfishness.

I haven't watched a Laker game this season (I can't stand them), but I need to. A friend saw them last night and said he has never seen such a horrible Laker team. Got to love it!

Kevin isn't getting much Love from the Wolves FO...

I think Love is equal to Monta in efficiency from the PF position.

Shooting 45% from the field for a PF/Center isn't efficient.

Tremendous rebounder.

Can't blame Kobe for this ball hogging though. Kobe did exactly the same thing back before Gasol/Bynum. Kobe tried to pass to his teammates for easy open scores, and they all missed. Then Kobe of q2-q4 was shooting to keep score close. His 2012 teammates are the same thing, except they are supposed to be SUPERSTARS unlike 2004 season.

I trade for Kobe with Barnes + RJ + Beanbag + future 2 1st rd in a heartbeat. GSW will be championship contenders by ESPN and all of East coast medias then.

OK Focker, this post sucks.

Kobe has ALWAYS been surrounded by talent that can make open shots, defend and play team ball at the highest level. It's not like his front office is Cohen, Rowell, St Jean, Khan and McHale or anything. They always have put talent next to Kobe, I don't care what anyone says.

Face it, Kobe just can't get the best out of his team mates. His ego is just way too big for his own good. When his teammates struggle a little, his answer is to shoot more, and hold his team mates accountable. He has no motivational leadership.

Also, Kobe can eat a dick. I don't want him anywhere near the Warriors. Are you a closet Laker fan, or do you just like Bryant?

Apparently you missed a season. 04-05 Lakers missed the playoffs and were 23rd in the league in fg%.

I had Kobe on my fantasy league that year, so I know. I drafted him because I know he had to be a ballhog with no talent on team. I saw a lot of LAL on league pass that year too. 1st quarter was so hard to watch. [edited: I mean Atkins] and friends kept clunking non-stop. I swear, Kobe could have 8-10 assists if this teammates can even shoot.

Coxy. Which great shooters were you referring for the 2004-2005 season? Fisher? Atkins? Oh, I know... Brian Cook. Just look up that roster and it makes this GSW roster look like World Champs.

They still had a prime Caron Butler that year didn't they? Anyway, 1 season out of 16-17 where he didn't have all stars and/or hall of famers surrounding him.

When it comes to team orientated, motivational leadership,Kobe isn't the fizziest drink in the fridge.
