If you listen to David Lee's postgame interview the play was drawn up for either he or Green to get the ball off the cut. Why? Because the jig is up on the Heat's defensive "scheme". Golden State knew all night we over pursue on defense, it was in their scouting report and they took advantage for the gamewinner
That doesn't ignore that the bucket came on a breakdown. How many such blown cuts did you see the Warriors get during the game? If this is some hallmark of our defense, then why wasn't it used repeatedly to burn us? The pieces were in place on the possession. We denied multiple options. Listen to what Spo said in the postgame, and realize that Green was not the target of that play. If Green and Lee were the targets of that play, then the play was terrible. If Battier didn't leave his man (something I point out we haven't been doing) then the game ends with Jack taking a long, contested shot.
Also, show me the overpursuit on that last play. IIRC, Battier sees Klay come around, assumes he got open, so he scrambles to cover him, but then sees Ray is with him a split-second later. At this point, Green's already starting the championship parade to the basket, and Shane is toast. If that was scripted to go that way, then Mark Jackson is a great offensive mind. He was able to anticipate an unusual defensive mistake from a defensive specialist. That's like Batman Levels of Planning **** right there. PEACE.
