taylor up to #5 on the rookie rankings on sheridanhoops

MKG still #2

Damn! Two rookies in the top 5! :o
With all due respect to JT, I can probably think of about 10 rookies who have played as well as him so far. That's not a knock on him, but a statement of how many good rookies there are this season.

This is an amazing situation, which if it continues would easily represent Charlotte's best draft ever. I hope Jeff's here to stay, while we find a way to trade Henderson and stuff for a quality big.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

We could have done even more had we traded DJA or Diaw (or both) for draft picks instead of letting them walk.

iirc, we turned down Houston's 1st and two $4M contracts (Petro and Farmar) that would expire this season, for Diaw at the deadline. this? We could have easily got a mid-20s pick in this draft as well instead of letting DJA walk. This draft was so damn deep that we should have made a conscious effort to get more than two picks in this draft. Can you imagine drafting MKG, Taylor, and Moultrie/PJ3? Plus having the Houston 1st from the Nets would have given us a 15-20 pick within two years. We had a lot of chances to improve our future and we didn't execute last season.

We traded Maggette (who sucks) for Ben Gordon (who sucks less) and a pick (which is 100% positive value). That's prime execution. Diaw was bought out because he was being a fat, lazy doughnut depository. If we knew he would be like that, maybe we would have traded him? Who knows. In either case we let them expire and signed Sessions and Haywood while picking up Detroit's pick and Ben Gordon. That's positive growth, and it doesn't even include the guys we DID draft!

It's a shame JT has T-Rex arms, or he could be like Nic Batum. As is, I think he can still get pretty close.

This pick looks better and better all the time. I didn't know much about Taylor when we drafted him, there was a lot more spotlight on Jenkins at Vandy. I read he was a defensive guy, almost like a Thabo, not going to get you a lot of points but plays spectacular defense. I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed with JT this season, he shoots a better three ball than I think he was evaluated for.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

First of all, I was talking about during the 11-12 season, not before or after. After Diaw fell out of the rotation, the rumored nets deal surfaced. We blew two chances at gaining more picks in this stacked draft. Don't get me wrong, I'm more than satisfied with our draft considering what we have, but we could've added another mid-to-late 1st fairly easily but instead, we got nothing.

I am very impressed with JT, after his poor preseason and start to the regular season, he's broke through and I think he's going to be a Sefolosha-like player for a really good playoff team in a few years. I hope that team is us.

I was angry we didn't draft Quincy Miller at the time.

ESPN not showing the Viking any love this morning on the Daily Dime after last night's game, labeling him the game's LVP & Monday's Worst NBA performance. I wonder why Dunlap allowed him to play through so many tough minutes despite MKG & BG both having efficient nights at the wing. Beats me. I hope Taylor can bounce back tomorrow because the 'Cats will need him to defend the Clippers plethora of scorers.

LVP: A player by the name of Jeffery Taylor played 35 minutes for the Bobcats on Monday night. I watched all 48 minutes of this game and couldn't even tell he was on the floor. I guess this can happen when you're 1-for-8 from the field with four points.

4. Monday's Worst

Taylor
Jeff Taylor, Bobcats: The rookie from Vanderbilt spent 33 minutes on the court in a 104-96 loss to the visiting Golden State Warriors. In that time, he made one of eight shots from the field. Perhaps having owner Michael Jordan seated at the end of the Bobcats' bench was a little too much.

That is what I have come to expect from ESPN. He is a rookie. Of course he is going to have some rough nights. Where were they the nights when he played his way into the rookie top 10 rankings?

B/c Dunlap thinks Taylor can guard positions 1-5 like LeBron is my only guess. Taylor's defense is great but he's not Gary Payton, as Steph Curry showed last night.

Jeffery Taylor Playing Too Large of Role for Charlotte Bobcats
Taylor could develop into a decent rotation guy. I’m not denying that he has a skill-set as a basketball player in the NBA. However, I don’t think that his development should come at the expense of a player in Kidd-Gilchrist that is a huge part of the Bobcats future. That’s when Taylor’s role for Charlotte becomes a problem. And if there’s one thing that this team doesn’t need, it’s more problems.

I've been questioning why Dunlap has put so much trust in Taylor myself, especially since more efficient players in MKG & BG minutes have been so limited.

I don't agree with that either, but I am frustrated with seeing Taylor get so many minutes at the expense of much better players.

Yeah I'm trying to figure that one out myself.

Having JT is a fantastic safety net, especially with MKG's foul troubles recently. No JT means more... Turtle? Gordon at SF? no thanks on either one of those.

The guy who made the rant obviously knows very little about Bobcats basketball. He evidently thinking that Jeff is getting most of his minutes at the three when he's getting most of them at the two.

You guys don't understand, because you want to win now. The Bobcats have already reached their win total for all last year. At this point they are more concerned with developing their young players that winning games. They are going to win more games. They want to know how good Taylor can be. Evidently they think he can be very good.
