Seeing Irving this early makes me wonder how well Tyreke Evans placed in this thread his rookie year?

As I understand it, its a trade value thread, not a player evaluation. Kyrie's awesome play coupled with his low salary make him desireable to every team out there, bar none.

V -- Rose.
N -- Kobe

Yes. Kobe. For what he brings, he could net more then Davis to the right team. Even still. If Davis were looking like Kyrie looked last year I would have him, but right now he looks good/great, not great/amazing. A few years of Kobe == instant relevance and a top 5 scorer/finisher to help a close team over the top.

Yes. Rose. Irving hasn't even made an all star game yet, while Rose was a (perhaps undeserving) MVP. Take the chance with the injury perhaps, but he was top of the line a difference maker. The only other difference makers at that level listed are pending free agents -- Paul, Dwight. But lets be honest, there is a huge plunge before 3 and 3-6 are all close.

I get that Irving is valuable, but #3?

I guess I'd prefer to gamble on a guy that has already proven he is a superstar, and may have a few warts, than a guy who has a lot of talent, but hasn't oriven he's going to get there. The proven superstar definitely gets the nod off the court - marketing. I've seen too many top picks never make that giant leap to become true superstars, but I guess after the top two, you take the risks that you're personally the most comfortable with.

Yeah, I agree with you that Irving is too much cart before the horse. Rose and Melo both make more sense imo. But it sheds some light on why demands for Kyrie and your most valuable trade asset in return for a (somewhat) disgruntled already extended Love aren't being met with that is reasonable.

With Rose out indefinitely since last June, to me this was between Melo/Westbrook/Irving.

Its just that you get more bang for your buck with Irving. Even when his rookie deal expire in a few years, he'll be restricted.

He's only 20 years old and he's putting up all star type production already. 24ppg 5.6apg 3.7rpg on 57%TS and he's only in his 2nd year.

He's locked up. He's young. He's cheap. AND he's good.

I dont have a problem with him being #3.

Vote: Kyrie Irving. Why? He's on his rookie deal still and is balling out of his mind. Would have went Paul if he wasn't an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Nominate: Anthony Davis

Am I allowed to vote or do I need to check with the project manager?

If I am, I think the no. 3 spot is between either Melo or Irving, going to have to think about it. I don't think either NY nor Cleveland would even dream of swapping those two straight up, so then you got to look at other teams. A rebuilding team, no question Irving, a win-now team, it's up in the air, we don't know Irving's impact right now because of the kind of team he's on, if he had pieces to work with what is he capable of?

Also I'm wondering why people aren't discussing Paul. I know he has 1 year left but is there any chance in hell he leaves the Clippers? I don't think so, he's almost a lock to resign.

Nominate: Kobe

I think you're right. Trade value is a completely subjective term, and I am always glad to see these threads come around because it shows how we all rate people differently. For example, I agree with people that put such emphasis about the value of a player being locked into a cheap deal, but I guess I place more value on the "specialness" of demonstrating that you can actually be a superstar in the league, on and off the court.

Irving

A. Davis

I think Davis should be #3, but Irving's fine by me, too.

Not just that, but the fact that he'll be a RFA once his contract runs out. You pretty much have him locked up for what, 7 or 8 more years?

Vote: ROSE
Yes he's injured right now... but like already said when healthy he's a lock for #3 spot and I think he has the will and determination to come back fully healthy and ready to go. The kid has a great head on his shoulders and hes an extremely hard worker... he'll be fine.

Nominate: KOBE
Look I probably hate the lakers more than anyone on this entire board times 100... but thru my many years of hating the lakers and now living in LA and hating them even more... the one constant for me has been that I always have respected how great Kobe is. Unreal that hes not listed in the top 10 most valuable players.... You stick him on half the teams in this league and theyre automatically title contenders. Sure hes 7 to 10 years older than most guys on this list but cant still outplay almost all of them and would be more valuable on a team than almost anyone else.

Kobe is 34. He's played A TON of minutes. No lead player with his mileage has ever lead his team past the conference finals if I'm not mistaken.
He's owed $30M next year and will be an unrestricted free agent the year after that. Oh, and his team is currently 11-14. He just doesn't belong in the trade value top-10 anymore.

V: Melo
N: Holiday

Tough for Melo cause he's older and his salary, but he's having too good of a season. Holiday I nominate. It's close between him and Rubio. I don't think AD deserves it yet. I think, though, that Holiday deserves a lot of credit for going positive with 19 and 9 with a team with Richardson, Turner, Thad, and Kwame Brown.
PG: Russell Westbrook, Reggie Jackson
SG: Andre Roberson, Anthony Morrow, Jeremy Lamb
SF: Kevin Durant, KJ McDaniels, Perry Jones
PF: Serge Ibaka, Nick Collison, Robert Covington
Cc: Al Jefferson, Steven Adams, Kendrick Perkins, Mitch McGary
