Re: Trade Targets
What do you guys think of trying to trade for someone like Calderon mainly for the purpose of letting D-Will get his ankle surgery done and come back strong for the end of the season.
He looks really banged up. I don't know if it's really worth it for him to keep playing like this, because it'll most likely only get worse.

That's actually an interesting idea depending on what it costs to get him.

Re: Trade Targets
It can't be done because you can't match salaries unless you send out Humphries, which would be a dumb idea.

Meh, just read it. It's Woelfel. He's pretty good, but it feels more like, hey the Bucks want to get rid of Illy ASAP, they know Brooklyn liked him and so they tell him Brooklyn is still interested so when he puts it in the air maybe it drums up a little bit of a market.

Re: Trade Targets
I'd do Ilyasova for hump of it weren't for the years
If someone is a fan of brooks and/or needs to cut costs the humphries contract could be our last good chance at getting a star- type player*
* would need to be a tremendously overpaid player. No varejoe types

Re: Trade Targets
The article on Ilyasova suggests they want Brooks and Taylor... Blatche's name is mentioned too. I would offer up the first 2 guys but not Blatche. Blatche means a lot to this team right now and is shining in his reserve role... we also know we'll have a decent big incase Lopez goes down again.
How about finding a third team? I'm guess it would be at least Brooks, Hump, and a few picks going out, but I'm hoping in addition to Ilyasova we can get a decent slashing SG for our bench.

Re: Trade Targets
NI is saying that there is some truth to it too, so its not just Woelfel. I know I mentioned Ilyasova as a realistic trade scenario a while back, but I mentioned it as more of a worst case scenario rather than as a preferred option. I still think Nene is a very good possibility, and that is who we should be trying to get rather than Ilyasova. It does help that Illyasova's play has picked up in December, but I still don't trust him over a full season. Too much inconsistency.vincecarter4pres wrote:Meh, just read it. It's Woelfel. Re: Trade Targets
No thanks. Way too risky and the Bucks think they will probably get more than Brooks/Hump for him, so I'd look elsewhere.
I'd prefer Henderson/Thomas, Biedrins/Jenkins, Millsap and even a Boozer trade over him.

Obviously Millsap would be great but let's be real here.

A guy who is a stretch 4 who hasn't produced one ounce to his level last season and is basically putting up the same stats as Kris making 40 million over 5 years vs cheaper contracts
If It came down to that, I'd take those cheaper deals everytime. No, way I'm taking Ersan until he starts to show he is worth that contract. We already made a mistake on Tele, let's not do that again.

Re: Trade Targets
I like the intensity Tyrus Thomas brings to the table. He is also one of the most fastest, quickest, and athletic big-man in the league which is what we lack for the most part in our front court. I know his statistic efficiency hasn't been great. However, imo the Nets need more glue guys towards the players we have right now rather than more offensive big men. I think he can flourish with Avery's coaching style and mesh perfectly with D-Will and Brook.
Think about it, this guy still has a chance to turn things around. He never played with a true PG and the type of player he is needs a good passing PG. The best point guard he played with is DJ Augustin. He is also playing too big of a role in the Bobcats he was pretty good when he was with the Bulls. His main problem was he played way too out of control. Yet, this was something Avery knows how to change towards a person play considering, Kris Humphries had the same problem back in the day. Yet, the only difference is this guy has much more talent than Kris Humphries so the potential of him playing much better is much more higher.
Just looking at his Advance stats. His USG% from his last 2 complete season is 24 and 25 which is incredibly high towards a player like him. Just lowering it under 20 will make a huge difference. Look at the effect with Kris Humphries. When Avery lowered down his USG% under 20 his Efficiency jumped up 7 more points.
Not to mention if we can get a guy like Gerald Henderson in to the deal would make our team substantially better.
I like what Bobcats roster brings to ours. MJ always takes players that has the personality that are extremely competitive. I think we need more of those type of players to change a certain someones mind to be a better leader.

Re: Trade Targets
Well we know Kevin O'Connor and Kind are buddies, and Utah has an abundance of PFs so maybe we can get Millsap somehow. I'd love to see Millsap in a Nets jersey. Too bad we don't really have anything to offer for him.
