Eddie Rivera is wrong. We can forget about that cap space now. This is not going to be easy for Hennigan to clean up now.

Unless this is part of Henny's plan, then I think this could be a false rumor. Because, Harrington sounded optimistic only 6 days ago about playing before the trade deadline. How can one go from rehabilitating to retiring in 6 days unless Harrington had a major setback with his health?

the last 2 years of Harrington's salary are partially guaranteed for about $3.7M. That really isn't much.

If Harrington retires, the Magic may be ineligible to apply to have Harrington's salary taken off their books, as teams can do in cases of medical retirement, because the infection first occurred while he was still a member of the Nuggets. The same could be true if the Magic try to pursue a disabled player exception, which would allow them to sign a replacement for Harrington at 50% of his salary this season if he is to miss the entire year. It would be up to the league to determine whether the severity of the issue was known, or should have been known, at the time of the trade.

This Harrington Situation might be one of those that sounds worse than it actually is, looking forward to more information and some legitimacy on some of the rumors already floating out there

It's not the end of the world but a $4 mill useless, untradable contract is not helping our cause when we already have other players on long term deals.

Teams have to build their core slowly like OKC winning the lottery multiple times while getting lucky, like Memphis building a core of vets over time or like New York, Lakers or Miami making big trades.

I am rooting for Memphis to surprise everyone this year and make a run for the Ship. That would be cool.

you can definitely do it quickly, but you have to attain assets first and foremost, which is what equates to the suckage time.

Miami - signed Odom, drafted Wade, played well 1 season and made playoffs, traded for Shaq and went straight into contention, won a championship after the 2nd year.

Boston - traded Jefferson, Green, and some other pieces for Garnett and Allen, won a championship straight away.

Miami - signed LeBron and Bosh to play with Wade, went to finals straight away, won a championship in the 2nd year.

the 'blueprint' is acquiring young talent, and targeting dissatisfied superstars to come and join your team, via FA or trade.

Im just speculating but Afflalo for Tyreke Evans?

Sac has already let it be known that they wan't pay Evans a lot of money,so why not get something in return for him if he leaves for nothing.Sacramento needs a vet on their team who can help lead them,Afflalo would be perfect for that team.

I would take a flyer on Tyreke but not for Afflalo. What if he gets here and sucks? Then we lost a nice trade piece for nothing. Tyreke isn't worth much considering teams don't know if they want to pay him or not either.

I don't think he would suck, the guy clearly has game the only thing wrong with his game is his jumpshot. If he can knock down his jumper consistently he could be a Dwade type player. He can get to the basket with the best of them,if he add that jumpshot to his game he can be a star in this league.I don't think he will ever reach his full potential in Sacramento because that team is full of knuckleheads,Evans need a vet to show him how to be a pro on/off the court.

I was a huge fan his rookie year (even comparing him to Wade like everyone else) but his lack of self-motivation, weight issues, and work ethic is troubling. He's been in the league for a while and sill has no jumpshot and is a step slower due to his weight.
