5. Like someone mention it before, playing hard on defense doesn't mean he's good at it. He can keep up, cus he got younger legs, that's about it.
6. He can't read defenders, a simple pass for him is TO waiting to happen.

Why is this guy even in the NBA?

I'm sure Dantoni already realize those things. He's already took him out of starting line up and cut his mins. He'll never see any playing time when Nash and Blake are back.

He has a guaranteed contract that's why anymore stupid questions?

while he can definitely have those Waltonesque moments of stringing along 4 bad plays in a row, I do think he's worth developing. Under normal circumstances we would not be paying much attention to a 2nd year guy drafted for development other than to give him unrealistic chants of more playing time ala Sun Yue.

If we works on his consistency I think he's shown enough in all areas to be a very effective 2nd unit player, which is something we lack at many positions, so to develop a guy would be valuable compared to shopping for 4 good bench players while capped out.

It was his best game of his career. To bad he got injured, because he was on fire in the 1st half. He looked really good out there.

Morris peak is better than Duhon and Blake, all we need is him to be more consistent. Still a raw player, but he's got potential 8-)

You completely ignore all the good stuff he does. Lots of servicable NBA pg's have sophomore years where they are like this. Look atthese highlights

I saw him drive in finish a couple of times. What's that say about your point 3?
I saw him make several shots with a defender contesting his shot with a decent rotation. What's that say about your point 4?
As far as the defense goes, trying hard and having quick/young legs is better defense than trying hard and having slow legs (ie Steve Blake and Chris Duhon, and they've been in the NBA for awhile)

Yes, he's inconsistent and on some nights, he does a lot of what you said. But on some nights he doesn't do any of that. You don't think a guy in his 2nd year in the NBA with highlights like you just saw can't grow and be more consistent about it to provide this kind of game more often? Have you NEVER watched an NBA player improve in your life time?!

Imagine if we saw Trevor Ariza's game the first few games he came out of orlando and decided he didn't belong in the NBA? If a player can provide the highlights you saw in that footage, at that point it isn't about talent or ability, it's about decision making and experience. Once he gets those things more consistent and improved (which having Nash back will help) I think he will be a pretty decent guard for us.

Admitadly most of us wanted him cut in training camp so we could have a spot for Barbosa but ever since the coaching change/blake injury he has gotten starters minutes and is looking like a lockdown defender. He put up 12pts/5ast vs Jeremy Lin last game and held him to a horrible percentage. He's only 21 and is a big PG at legite 6"5. Jay Bilas said he had the best court vision in that draft. He's on a cheap deal too similar to Iman Shumpert. Think young Andre Miller with Tony Allen type defense. What would you offer?

He had a good game against the Warriors; keep him around just to annoy GSW fans.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Funny how the dude that started this thread hasn't been back. Like Anklebreaker said he's the best defensive guard we have. Guys tend to think that every guard that has come in the league has just tore it up from day one. People thought Mike Conley was trash some short years ago, now you see him moving into the upper tier of guards.....it's called developing.

Why do you have to oversimplify like this? No one expects him to "tear it up right away". We just expect him to show some skills, which after some refining will make him a good NBA player. I don't see them.

If Darius' last four games are any indication of what the kid is capable of I hope we keep him around. He should continue improve as the season progresses and with Nash back it can only help the kid get even better.

He's clearly a better defender than Steve Blake at this point in Steve's career and the fewer minutes Duhon gets the better. If not Morris who do you guys want to see out there running the point for us when Nash is resting?

Please don't say Kyrie Irving.. lol

He's 21 years old and appears to be improving every day. Having Nash back should help him be even better imho.

Morris isn't the answer to all of our problems but he's been better than most of us have expected him to be. Having Nash and Blake out could have easily been a massive disaster but Morris helped us divert it to some extent. Our record still sucks but it could be worse.

he seems to panic a bit one he gets into the lane. just needs to be a bit more under control, imo.

I'm convinced; athleticism aside, this kid has nothing to convince me that he should be on this Lakers team beyond his rookie contract.

For a guy so athletic, he's an atrocious finisher. He shoots better in the field then in close.

http://www.82games.com/1213/12LAL4.HTM#onoff

He's also terrible at finishing with contact and botches a ton of fast breaks.

That saying, he's young and he will learn. He's a good 3pt shooter at over 40% and he's our most athletic and best option for defense at the 1 spot. He could be a solid back up PG.
