Nash Quote

Post#1 » by b shaw20 » Mon Dec 17, 2012 5:41 pm

This is why having Nash is so important. The guy "gets it" and most importantly, everyone will fall into their respective roles. And if they all are willing to sacrifice, they could be scary.

"Kobe should have the ball a lot," he says. "And Dwight Howard is so good he doesn't need the ball to be good. If he sacrifices a little and is just a touch more like Bill Russell, and if Kobe is a touch more like a playmaker, and Pau Gasol plays off Dwight, this team can be awesome.

"But if everyone doesn't give in a little and accept change, it won't work. There are too many old dogs with old habits."

That is a good quote. I wonder how he sees himself adjusting as well though.

He really should be the primary playmaker of course- that's what everybody has been waiting for as he recovers from injury. But when you have a Kobe on the court with you, it also can't just be him dribbling around doing PnR's and Kobe standing in a corner waiting to catch and shoot.

So ideally he'll be able to play off the ball some as well. There are 4 alphas on this team, and all will have to learn how to play off each other, play off the ball. Otherwise the offense will always seem disjointed despite the star names.

I think none of us can't.

Perhaps something good can come out of him not playing early on. IF we see a HUGE improvement and have better win-loss success with him quarterbacking the team, it will force Kobe into taking more of a backseat in wanting to take over games.

In fairness, I think Kobe was more passive early on but he just has to trust a bit more. But yea, I get that D12 has to hold himself more accountable for not making throws. Pau has to grow a pair and stop with the excuses.

I am surprised there is no Nash watch thread yet. He looked pretty good in Philly's pre game workout.

Me too...I think if anyone can allow this team to gel, it's Nash. He's brilliant. I hope they post up gasol more and just get Dwight involved through P&R and lobs. Those along with put backs and offensive rebounds should allow him to stay involved offensively.

Seriously I can wait. I'm glad we won the last 2. I want to give Nash another week after he is healthy just so he comes back at full strength. Same w/ Gasol.

If our season starts in 2013 w/ a healthy core so be it. I just hope and pray for the Lakers to stay healthy until the play-offs are over and that this group has a chance to try coaches system and keeps playing coach Brown's D.
