Demarcus Cousins?

Post#1 » by Cashin out » Tue Dec 18, 2012 4:14 am

What happened to this guy this year?

He was suppose to be the next star center, but it seems like he took a step back this year.Everytime I watch Sacramento play this year it looks like he just goes through the motions and does nothing but take a lot of jumpshots.I know you Kings fans have to be disappointed in his performance so far this season.Do you think he just doesn't have the maturity to be a leader of a franchise?

It's not just him, the whole situation stinks. This team makes no sense, didn't make sense last year, didn't make sense after this summer, this isn't a shock to anyone that understands what cohesion looks like on paper and that lack of cohesion jumped off the paper a long time ago.

Players are human, they will eventually call it a day. There is some talent here, but having a team full of iso scorers does nothing but hurt the iso scorers you rely on to be the focus of your attack. The object of this teams offense is to consistently clear out and that makes the game way too hard for your stars.

Cousins is a head case. He is talented, but his lack of maturity & focus is destroying this team. He needs to step up & be a leader for this sinking franchise. He has taken a step back this year.

It's clear to me Cousins is not the type of guy you build a team around. I'm not even sure he's the type of guy that is capable of being an integral part of a winning team. He is a total flake who thinks about nobody but himself. He is supremely talented and it is a shame that he will never realize his full potential. He hasn't improved at all since his first NBA game. I say we (the Kings) trade him, get what we can and move on.

In another thread I compared Cousins to Zach Randolph in terms of maturity. I think when he simply grows up he'll be alright. Hopefully it's soon and in a Kings uniform.

He has the potential to be the best center in the NBA,but I don't think he will live up to that potential in Sacramento.I think he needs a team with a lot of veterans that will show him how to act like a professional on/off the court.I hope he turns it around because he became one of my favorite players last year dude was beasting late last season.

If I were you guys I would trade Tyreke Evans for a veteran type allstar player who can help Demarcus lead your team. You guys have to many young players on your team IMO.

If Demarcus has proven anything at the NBA level it's that he is NOT a leader. Never will be. If we could trade Tyreke for a veteran All Star we would have already done it. Unfortunately Tyreke's value is as low as it has ever been, which is a shame because if played at the PG spot on a team with good complimentary guards Tyreke is a match up nightmare.

Problem with this is Randolph's game has always been fairly "mature". He was just a knuckle head off the court. Randolph was always fairly polished on the block, with his shot, rebounding, footwork, etc..

Demarcus is a mess fundamentally. He has a loooooooong way to go and he hasn't shown any improvement. The lack of improvement to pair with the bad attitude is the biggest red flag for me.

By the time he matures he will be long gone from this franchise. Either the Maloofs won't pay him or he will leave after multiple seasons with a losing record here. At this point in Cousins career he needs to be around a veteran team that won't put up with his behavior.

I wasn't comparing their games or style of play at all.

Not totally, Zach used to take a lot of questionable shots himself and was certainly a volume type more years than not early on. They're games, talents, and limitations are actually very similar. And Zach wasn't just a knucklehead off the court, he was down right mean and nasty from some of the stories that leaked out.

You are right. Zach was and probably still is a complete jerk. However, he never had the excessive foul trouble or the out of control selfish style of play Cousins has shown. At least not in his 3rd year in the league. My only point is the lack of growth Cousins has shown on and off the court is concerning and we should probably look at other options to get him out of town.
