Post#1 » by cbrown32 » Tue Dec 18, 2012 8:55 pm

@paugasol: Tonight I'm going to be back playing after being out for more than 2 weeks! Happy to be back on the floor with my teammates! #GoLakers an hour ago

I'm happy he's back as well but after hearing D'Antoni say that it wouldn't work to have Pau in the post beccause it's not Lakers basketball, i'm not sure what to expect......

Seems like he was trying to dodge the question more than anything.

"(Gasol) is good at what he's good at, and we'll exploit it."

I'm not sure what he meant by that. Hopefully he'll give pau some more opportunities and see that it works for the better. And hopefully kobe will adding a bit of pressure on him to get pau more involved.

I was worried that he got a back injury...

"(Gasol) is good at what he's good at, and we'll exploit it."

It seems to simply mean that he intends to put Gasol in positions where he's previously had success, which is obviously the post. We'll see if it happens though.

I don't think it's fundamentally incompatible to have Gasol play in the post in a D'Antoni offense. Part of his offense is spreading the floor to give room for PnR, etc. But just as fundamental is the concept of 'shoot it or move it'. It doesn't have to be Nash PnR or ISO, if the Lakers move the ball quickly then they can find Dwight or Pau isolated one one in low or high post.

The best option for the Lakers is to have Pau Gasol post up on the low post instead of Dwight Howard. Pau Gasol is a better post player than Dwight and he is also a better passer which can lead to dunks for Dwight Howard. Teams are hacking Dwight and playing him very physical and making him shoot freethrows everytime he posts up. He's a much more dominant player when he's getting offensive rebounds and catching lobs or running pick and rolls when Nash comes back.

I kind of feel really bad for Pau. He continuously comes off as a real optimistic fellow given his play, being the scapegoat by fans, trade rumors and the position he's been put in on the floor (15-20 feet out from the paint) this year. I'm gonna strangle someone if I have to hear his name and that Raptor crap package.

If Pau is being moved, he deserves better. Send him to Miami for Chris Bosh.

I find it a little astonishing that D'Antoni apparently doesn't know Pau is good in the post.

I think how terrible we played going 3-5 without him should put to rest that these losses are all his fault

D'Antoni knows. However, he also knows that the Lakers gave him a ton of money to come run his system.

Great to see Gasol back. I feel that both Howard and Gasol can start together, but I rather see them only one of them on the court at a time. Howard and Jamison then Gasol and Hill, this will allow both to play the post and we will always have a powerful big an on the floor.

SF:MWP
PF:Jamison
C: Howard
SG:Bryant
PG:Nash

SF:Bryant
PF:Hill
C:Gasol
SG:Meeks
PG:Nash

I feel that with these two line ups with Gasol and Howard playing t different time will be better for the team and them
