I think it's part of the reason that he's been less aggressive at times in addition to choosing his battles (so he can avoid some of those hard fouls). I think he also wants to show that his mid-range work was not in vain.

I remember something Earlier this season about him bursting a sack or something

bursitis of his elbow. when the fluid drains into his sac at the tip of his elbow his arm could look like popoye's

his midrange game this year has been far more than just respectful. i don't think his defenders will leave him out there for very long at this rate

41% from 16-23ft. He was around 43% a couple of games ago.
53% from 10-16ft.

but i think it is part of his game. being an ass with refs and opposition gives him a mental edge to play his game well.
