Like I've said before, people who want to specifically blame players does not watch the game in depth enough. DVR a game, watch it through, watch it a second time and you will see how many times we run the same play OVER and OVER again.
Give the ball to Lopez on the high post, everyone sets a screen and Deron comes off the screen like Ray Allen and takes 3s, if it's not Deron...The play is designed for Joe.
Another play: Joe posts up on the high posts, draws a double cross court passes it to someone wide open on the wings...A play we ran 5 times in the span of 4 minutes against the bulls which they figured out.
On defense: Ever since the boston game, Avery keeps running half court traps...which didn't work ever since but for some reason, we still run it and it still results into the other team scoring easily....We trap way too poorly at times.
Trapping:
The concept of a trap is too limit a shot at a certain time of the game. If you trap a guy by the out of bounds line, that's a great trap. If you trap a guy who can't pass, that's a great trap. Yet, multiple times we've been caught trapping for no reason leading to easy shots like we trapped Felton which led to Chandler getting WIDE OPEN dunks...WHY are you trapping a guy who isn't even shooting well against us? You'd rather let a guy at 77% beat you than a guy at 40%
I will blame rebounding and effort on the players but this offense and defensive schemes are an absolute joke and that's not on Deron. This is the f*cking NBA. You don't run nonsense like that and expect it to work, you develop a system and you stick to it.
Avery's logic has no creativity and we don't even run the pick and roll. THE PICK AND ROLL IS THE HARDEST PLAY IN BASKETBALL TO DEFEND and we don't run it. All we run are Isos, post ups, 3 pointers off screens.
We'll look like the easiest team in basketball to defend with that crap in the playoffs.
