Burks! What Corbin is missing
5 things happen when Burks get the ball and 4 of them are great!
1- He drives and misses
2- He drives and scores
3- He drives and the defense collapses and he dishes for an easy bucket
4- He drives and get the the FT line
5- (This is overlooked) He drives and misses, but because so many people go after him offensive rebounds happen at a higher rate.
We need a guy who can get to the rim, foul line, and can break the defense down.
When Foye gets the ball he either makes or misses... thats a 50/50 situation vs. the 80/20 from Burks.

Seriously though... Burks has been terrible all year and not just kinda terrible... he's been AWFULLY TERRIBLE. He has one decent game in practically extended garbage time and we're freaking out about him again? C'mon...

Re: Burks! What Corbin is missing
You cannot judge a player when he gets to play in less than 40% of the games, and when he gets to play it is not as part of the game... it is in garbage time.
Consider that he only played regular rotation minutes in the 2 games that Marvin missed for a concussion. What has shown is his defense has improved. He at this point needs to be getting minutes over Hayward or Foye... neither are playing well lately.
What Corbin is doing with Watson and Tinsley is fair: He gives the backup 2 games in a row each and they trade off. I think Corbin should be doing that with Burks now. Personally He can take Haywards minutes or Foyes or Carroll... but you have to give him some rotation minutes on a consistent basis.
Remember last year as a rookie when he and Hayward got the consistent minutes over Howard and Bell the Jazz started to flourish. It was also what caused Bell to flip out... but Burks deserves the chance to improve. He has done nothing to deserve being relegated to the bench.
Hayward (don't get me wrong... I like him) but he was handed the starting Job last year and he didn't really earn it. This year he was handed it again and lost it to a one trick pony veteran.

Re: Burks! What Corbin is missing
I think Corbin missed a golden chance in this game to give Burks some non-garbage time burn. Down 20 or so for most of the game you don't have much to lose.

Burks does not dish it... ever. The only pass he made last night was because he was caught in the air with nowhere to go, and it resulted in a turnover. In his defense, he did get an assist. I don't seem to recall where that came from, but lets be honest, Burks does not dish. It is not something he has in his game at this point.
Burks does not shoot 80% like you seem to suggest with 80/20. He actually went 5/10 last night... which is 50/50. Add in his free throws and he is at 60/40 at best.
I like Burks, and I loved his game last night. While I agree it would be nice to find him more minutes, your numbers are a bit biased. If you take a step back, you can see why he doesn't get more minutes. While he attacked the basket and even hit some jumpers, he only had 1 board and 1 assist to go with it. No steals, no blocks, 1 board, 1 assist.
He did have a defensive stop where he forced a turnover, but against the Pacers third string you would like to see more team play and boards. I think we can all let the defensive stats slide as they do not always accurately reflect a players defensive play. Additionally, the argument can be made that with Favors/Evans/Kanter on the floor, there wasn't much room for boards to be had.
I don't think anyone will disagree that when Burks in on the floor, Burks is gonna score... but no one else is. But that doesn't keep Big Al from getting his minutes. The argument for Burks earning minutes is there, but until he learns to play team ball, I don't see it happening.

Re: Burks! What Corbin is missing
You missed some things.
6) He jump shoots and misses
7) He jump shoot and scores
8) He drives and gets his shot blocked
9) He jump shoots and gets his shot blocked
10) He drives and get the ball knocked out his hand accidently by someone and it looks like a pass
11) He drives and turn the ball over
12) He drives, pass and misses the guy he's passing to (rarely happens since he rarely passes)
13) He dribbles around and around or drive too the basket and hits the ball off his foot
14) He dribbles around and around or drive to the basket and gets the ball stolen
15) He makes an insanley stupid decision young guys usually make that can't be properly expressed in words
Burks does alot more things than you say he does and most are not good at this point.

Re: Burks! What Corbin is missing
I actually think Corbin has made the right choice with the lineups. Basically what's happened is that Carroll has taken his minutes. And I think Demarre has earned it. He's been fantastic so far. Foye is.....a necessary evil. We need to have his shooting ability in the mix. You can't play both Carroll and Burks, and Carroll is more deserving at this point. If Alex would develop his jumpshot and become a legitimate threat as a shooter, he would immediately become the no-brainer play. But with the various skill sets on the team, you can't play him as part of the regular rotation. At some point, we'll have an injury and he'll get to prove himself with regular minutes. Until then, Foye has to keep getting at least 20 mpg and Carroll has to get his burn, which keeps Burks out of the rotation.
It sucks, but its how it has to be.

Burks did make a couple of nice passes last night. Both sides of this argument need to watch him objectively.

Yea but I seen enough of burks to know that won't be the norm. I'm not falling for it. He won't fool me with a couple nice passes after a year of blackholeness.

Burks is the only Jazz player on the entire roster able to go one on one and make a positive play. Mo WIlliams tries but simply lacks the athletic ability. Hayward is too tentative. Burks is best as a scoring microwave 6th man. That job currently is Hayward and and he is not good at it. Time to scrap this Foye starting stupidity. Foye needs to play limited minutes and onyl extended minutes when he is hot.
Start Hayward for Foye and give him Foye's minutes. Give Burks Hayward's minutes and give some of Big Al's and Millsap's minutes to Marvin Williams as a stretch 4 while giving Foye some o Marvin's mintes used at wing.

He needs at least 10 mins a game every game and build on that give him consistent minuets and a consistent roll before you expect him to consistently produce. Its way too soon to throw your first round lottery to the end of the bench collecting dust.

Cant be worse then the Jazz are right now. 500 ball club going no where. It is best in the NBA to be a championship contender or a bottom feeder where you can draft a star. The Jazz are neither. We are the team that barely makes or misses the playoffs each year. A really irrelevant ball club. Time to play the young guys and either improve or get worse. Either one is better than where they are right now.

Thats very true but as Corbin basically said its not up to him. It clear the FO prefers to be the team that barely makes or misses the playoffs each year so he's just doing what they want. That sounds horrible as a fan but Corbin isn't gonna risk his job to please the fans because the fans don't pay him.

Re: Burks! What Corbin is missing
You guys need to stop worrying. Burks will get his time. The Jazz are playing for the playoffs this year and Burks has been pretty terrible when given real minutes. But I am pretty sure they are playing for the lotto next year. The Jazz will go full youth movement next year. I do not believe they plan on re-signing any free agents. ANY.
They want the young kids to have at it and they want them to lose. Next year Burks, Hayward, Kanter and Favors will get 35+ minutes a game. And the Jazz hope that combo loses a lot. They want the lotto and they want to win the lotto. Because the Jazz know only stars win and 2 very good ones will come out in the 2014 draft. Wiggins and Parker.
I think it has been in the Jazz plans to go after Parker the whole time, thinking with his LDS connection they could keep him around. That is why so many contracts are set to expire this year. They want to suck next year. Wiggins showing up in 2014 draft class just made things that much better. Now the Jazz just need a top 2 pick, instead of number 1.
But don't get mad this off season when all the free agents leave and the Jazz do not attempt to sign any one. Jazz have 2 first rounders, plus the big 4 and Murphy and Evans. That is probably 8 of the 9 rotation players. Marvin has a player option, but I assume he opts out when the Jazz tell him their plans to tank next year. The remaining roster will be cheap D leaguer's, I assume.
I don't see the Jazz trying to sign anyone with real talent next year, unless they come cheap.

Problem is he drives and the other four players on the team is like why is he doing that. That is not the play we are running. What are we supposed to be doing now?

Burks is better than a lot of people think. He will either do good here or go elsewhere and do good. We might get a lottery pick this year or barily make the plaoffs like last year. People were saying we will get a lottery pick for Golden State this year. They were wrong.

doesn't matter what any one thinks about this kid, he should get at least 10 mins per game, playing him like corbin is doing that is wasting his talent and chances to progress

Sit Foye! after another lousy shooting nite his lack of scoring is getting rediculous. Put Burkes on second unit and Hayward to start. Also, Milsap on 2nd team! The current starting 5 are not good together!
