One last attempt to get Lamb (OKC)

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Thu Dec 20, 2012 12:43 pm

OKC is in a pinch. They are a great team, but still have issues. Mainly, they have salary issues and a non-productive starting C on a bad contract. Maybe we can help them with those issues by sending them expirings for youth and their bad-contract, non-priductive C.

Kendrick Perkins
Jeremy Lamb
Reggie Jackson

for

Jason Maxiell (Fills Perkins' role)
Will Bynum (Fills Jackson's role as 3rd string PG)
Austin Daye (auditions to stay with OKC)
Kim English (cheap SG who fills Lamb's role)

OKC:
Westbrook / Maynor / Bynum
Sefolosha / Martin / English
Durant / Daye / Liggins
Ibaka/ Collison / Jones III
Maxiell / Thabeet / Orton

DET:
Knight / Jackson
Stuckey / Lamb / Middleton
Prince / Singler
Monroe / Jerebko
Drummond / Perkins / Kravtsov

OR they amnesty Perkins and don't trade 2 young players for junk and they accomplish the same thing.

Except the team built to win now would then have a huge hole at C. My deal fixes their salary issue and fills their roster.

It doesn't. Maxiell would be amazing off the bench for them but not as their starter C. They don't do this deal even without Lamb imo, they need a real center with size in order to get a championship.

They are in win now mode. Perkins will be there until the end of the season at the very least. I would jump all over this though if given the chance. Jeremy Lamb has a lot of potential, and even if he doesn't pan out, we aren't giving up anyone important outside of Max, who is better suited to go help a contender as a rotation player anyway.

Martin is an expiring contract - if they're worried about payroll they'll let him walk after the season.

I doubt they give up Lamb for junk, or give up Perkins in a trade like this. He's the veteran "leader", a mentor of sorts for their young guys. You can't place a dollar value on that kind of thing.

I don't understand the infatuation with Lamb.

Agreed. Although in his defense he wasn't gonna get any playing time behind Martin and Sefolosha. I wouldn't give up much for him, though.

A couple years ago, Maxiell started a good amount of our games at C and averaged 10/9/1. He played really well at C and I'm sure he'd be an upgrade over Perkins in OKC.

And Perkins has, by far, the wosrt contract in this deal.

They could do better. I think if they offered that up they could easily get Varejao. I don't see the Pistons rotation players offering that much appeal. Sorry.
