can someone explain how melo is more valuable than cp3? like it doenst make any sense. is it because paul is gonna be a free agent? i mean paul is so vastly better even with him as a free agent i would still say hes more valuable.

well the contract is a big factor of course. Paul isnt going to resign with 2/3 of the league at least so that hurts his value because demand is reduced. And guys who can score the way Melo can are really really valuable. You can put role players around those guys and win big. Think Cleveland Lebron or Dallas Dirk. Paul cant carry a team of role players the way Melo is capable of.

Vote: Lebron
Nominate: David Lee (never thought I would say this but he's been phenomenal thus far this season)

LeBron is already on the list. Heading it up, in fact!

1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Kyrie Irving
4. Derrick Rose

apart from the contract thing, i highly disagree with all of that. first of all, the whole idea of melo being really valuable because he can score makes no sense in comparison to a guy like paul who is just a vastly superior offensive player. paul might not score at the same volume, but hes a better shooter, can create shots just as easily for himself, and most importantly, is a super elite play maker, while melo is arguably not even average. and even if we want to go with the whole idea of "elite scorers>elite point guards" melo is not even remotely on the level of lebron in cleveland or dirk in dallas. those guys are on an entirely different level that melo has not even shown he can come close to. paul can aboslutely carry a team harder than melo, if you put the shooters that new york has around paul and a defensive role player like chandler then the knicks would be even better.

i mean the knicks are the best 3pt shooting team in the league. the clippers? 23rd. the knicks overall have much better role players and if you put paul on that team they are arguably the best team in the league imo.

Doesn't matter.

Teams aren't going to give up a ton of assets for half a season, only for CP3 to hit unrestricted free agency this summer.

I mean, even if Melo is only 80% the player that Paul is, the contract thing basically cuts his value in half. That is why I think teams would give up more for Melo with a multi-year contract.

it does matter, but if you want to argue the point that his contract is a big sticking point then by all means do that.

There's no way Melo is number 5.

Vote: Melo
Nominate: Jrue Holiday

Melo deserves it at this point as he has rebuilt his career this year. Holiday is going really under the radar. He is putting up top PG numbers and is the only reason this team has won games (we went 0-4 without him vs marginal competition). He deserves it, at this point, more than Rubio.
PG: Russell Westbrook, Reggie Jackson
SG: Andre Roberson, Anthony Morrow, Jeremy Lamb
SF: Kevin Durant, KJ McDaniels, Perry Jones
