Avery does another interview, Avery blames the players some more.

It's really sickening. Really is. Never heard a coach blame the players so much in my life.

It's great to see this attitude from the organization...I'm honestly happily surprised we are handling it in this manner, Billy needs to step in and lay down the law with the team...and then deal w/ Avery behind the scenes to let him know it is all about W's and some sort of consistency...

Avery now w/out a doubt is in trouble...I won't say his days are number yet, but they might only give him 10-20 game stretch and reevaluate...Johnson definitely seems like he is stubborn in his ways and you can assume this is now causing waves internally...Bottom line, it is his job to lose and to put in systems that work; just because you feel one should doesn't mean it has to...make adjustments accordingly, or peace see ya later...

It sure seems like it based on December!

@TimBontemps: Avery must have listened to all of you: he said he is going to play Lopez and Blatche together, and soon.

^^^you know I was going to suggest that a week ago, but I wanted to avoid the debate and the flamage...I truly believe Blatche inserted @ the 4 will become the starting lineup...he's a true 4 and they'll both utilize each other passing and playing off each other...they're really going to compliment each other especially if Blathce's passing around the key becomes contagious...both can shoot and both can post so they should be able to stay out of the way of one another...though, I feel like anything else there will be a learning curve...

JJ while talent wise, this is better...I think this is a horrible fit depending on how the two is utilized. Given that this is Avery we're talking about, I expect Blatche to play a lot of perimeter while Lopez is in the post.

Of course, in doing so, we are putting Andray in a the position where he typically gets in trouble by overdribbling and taking fadeaway jumpers

Yep. At C, Blatche can take his man off the dribble...at PF, he's going to take more jumpers and bad shots.

Phil Jackson had his bags packed to coach L.A., because he knows he can win another championship there, then they crushed his dreams. A truly exceptional coach wanting to get back into the game would take the challenge at another franchise, but Phil has never been one for actual challenges.

devin kharpertian ‏@uuords
Avery called the game “two different teams trying to accomplish two different things.” No idea what he meant.

SNYNets ‏@SNYNets
Avery: “This game reminded me of that preseason game where they came in with something to prove.” #Nets #NBA #NBAXMas #Celtics

Mike Mazzeo ‏@MazzESPN
#Nets emptying the bench. Something has to change. Terrible performance.

This is the one that gets my attention. This is the stuff coaches always say right before they get fired, when they have been told by the powers that be within the organization that they're as good as gone if they don't do a complete 180 ASAP.

If they fire him, does garbage ass PJ take over though?

I'd pull for Elie the strongest.

this is kind of my issue. avery gets fired. fantastic!

but if we just roll with PJ or popeye or elle i dont see a whole lot changing, other then us looking like a mess and a circus ensuing.

i wouldnt fire avery until we have a legit coach in place to replace him

It will probably be an interim off the assistant coaching staff who would be promoted to head coach if Avery gets the ax and Elie to me is probably the most capable and promising to just finish the season out.

I can't stand PJ either, it seems like he's failed everywhere he's gone whether as a head coach or an assistant if he wasn't riding a HOF coach's coattails unless we're talking about his college coaching in the 80's and 90's.

I wasn't a big fan of PJ as even an assistant.

yea, i dont like PJ... i mean this probably has nothing to do with his coaching ability, but the guy just looks like a bum. the suits he wears look like they came from a thrift store.

Yeh yeh yeh, believe me I have no arguement...I hate playing small w/ Wallace at the 4 I rather see Hump (and we know his presence hasn't added much) in there or Blatche...Reggie needs to bring energy off the bench...

Either way, Avery talking about 60% of the league and this or that...like jeff said, why give up the rebounding edge we had...I mean I'm willing to try anything to right this ship and I'm not saying Blatche is the answer...I just want effort, the ability to score the basketball and rebounding...these guys know if they don't dig in on defense they have no chance...

60% of the league plays this way was what Avery said but what's hilarious is, back in November. He was raving about our size and how we could impose our will on teams with our rebounding and low post play.

The lineup was never the issue. The issue was, predictable offensive sets and coming out swinging after halftime instead of letting teams come back and try to win.

He's now played around with the rotation to the point where we are now losing games because nobody has chemistry with each other at positions.

Well phil doesn't do projects. He's been given a championship caliber team throughout his coaching career. He's not going to ruin his legacy
