Are we finally back on track?

Post#1 » by King_John » Sun Dec 23, 2012 11:40 am

After we played bad defense at the beginning of the season and got manhandled twice by the Knicks did we finally got our defedense mojo back that made us so succesul last year. At least the numbers after the loss at home against the Knicks indicate so

Before Knicks game at home: 100,6 PPG allowed
After Knicks game at home: 89,6 PPG allowed

That Knicks blowout game was the wake up call we needed...finally effort on defense

We are showing effort. Effort is the remedy and winning is the cure-all.
Look at Wade, he's playing with the effort he should had been playing; now his scoring/efficiency is up and his D has become great again.

Yeah.. Its Wade's play that I've been most impressed by..
When Wade is playing with energy and intensity, and not slacking on defense, this team becomes a nightmare for the opposition.
Now lets get that win over OKC and give the league something to think about..

NBATV showed some stats that show we're pretty much exactly where last year, this same number of games in. I don't think we were ever off track, but Spo was tinkering with the rotation to see if he could use some of our new additions. Only Ray seemed to have survived that experiment. PEACE.

Why are people impressed by Wade? He's back to being okay, but far from the standard he should be on. This team is starting to play better basketball overall, but D-Wade is far from being where he should be. Hell last year he had much better stretches and he was limping his way through the season.

Well Wade hasn't had the opportunity to score as much as he used to, neither be on the floor as long as he is used to. He is playing extremely efficient basketball on both ends these days.

Along with better defensive effort, the Heat are playing less small ball.

Lewis has pretty much gotten no playing time what so ever since the Knicks game aside from garbage time. Haslem took over as starter over Battier although he took over as starter during the Knicks game where Miami got killed.

Seems like it

It changed when Joel was back in the rotation.

I think the game against OKC will show...if we beat them and stay focused on defense we might be on a big roll

Since the NYK game:

Pace: 90.5

114.1 ORTG (#1, +9.1 League Average)
98.9 DRTG (#2, -6.1 League Average)

+13.6 MOV
+11.7 SRS

Update

Pace: 90.3

114.3 ORTG (#1, +9.3 League Average)
100.2 DRTG (#4, -4.8 League Average)

+12.6 MOV
+12.1 SRS

Put up a 108.7 DRTG against OKC, which isn't too great, but they're one of the top offensive teams in the league so slightly expected.

Since loss to NYK @Home (9G)

Pace: 90.8

114.0 ORTG (#1, +9.0 League Average)
99.9 DRTG (#4, -5.1 League Average)

+12.7 MOV
+11.1 SRS

They've been on a tear defensively and that continued tonight. That was what I expected at the start of the season, as Lebron looked better on the defensive end in the preseason that I had ever seen him before. Spoelstra finally made some adjustments, and Miami's been close to best in the league on that end (while playing the best offense in the league as well).

It's all about Haslem. His rebounding and effort are contagious. Haslem embodies Miami Heat basketball.

I'm proud of the way the guys are playing.

Here's what I know: Miami has been doing what I would consider to be average given their potential, and we saw this at the hands of the Knicks twice. Christmas Day against Oklahoma City was a pretty important statement game, especially since they had one of the best records in the league. We came to play and made the right moves to secure the victory. We're on our way back, and Erik Spoelstra is not yet finished with this lineup.

I disagree that it's all about Haslem. The numbers just don't back that up and in fact tell the opposite story.

I agree the effort is much better but......

27 minutes : 6 rebounds (0 offensive), 0 points, 0-4 from the field (wide open jumpers and asisted layups), 1 turnover, 0 blocks, 0 asists.
