Re: Trade Targets
So Cousins would from being the 1st option on the Kings to the 3rd/maybe 4th option on our team, and he'd have no problem with it?
Do you guys really think that he would accept that?
Our "leader" already has bad body language and while there is a veteran presence on this team, they're all pretty quiet and don't say much.
Supposedly, we're not looking into Kenyon because of his attitude. I don't see how DMC would be any better than him, especially considering that he would no longer be the 1st option in the post, let alone the team.
Maybe a change in scenery, but Cousins has always had maturity issues. Acquiring him would definitely be a high risk situation.

Re: Trade Targets
I'd trade Lopez, but something straight proper needs to be Brooklyn bound. Trading him for a lesser player or combo of lesser players? That really depends on your definition of that concept and who we're talking specifically.
If you're suggesting something like Asik and Nene, I'm going to decline that with the quickness.
Same if you're in full panic mode and hinting towards something like David Lee and Okafor.
Truthfully, if we trade Lopez it really has to be a big upgrade of sorts because a team is going into a rebuild or trying to shake things up crazy, whether it's straight up or in a 3 or 4 team deal.
Lopez is traded we need LMA, Love, etc.
Worst case we Need Pau Gasol and then a seriously high upside athletic young 4 who can also simultaneously play right now and fits great next to Pau, ironically like a Favors.
IDK if any of those are that realistic, but you don't just move Lopez to move him or for fit to top out as a ECF team at best. Right now we're a ECF team at best with a coaching change, a small move or two and some better play from our star point guard.
If we trade Lopez it needs to be a huge splashy move.

Re: Trade Targets
Honestly i wouldn't trade Lopez for another big man in the league. I would trade for cousins maybe marshon and hump for cousins and filler. I think cousins can play pf. Him and Lopez on the front line would be killer. But cousins would need to keep himself in check which hasn't been able to do. And they eould need to keep him away from blatche

I agree.
The point of a possible Cousins trade is the fact we'd be buying low with a real opportunity of him turning into something very valuable in a 20/10 big man.
I only move Lopez if its for a legit star. The ideal situation would be to bring in Cousins for Hump, younger players, filler & picks then look to move Lopez for a PF.
I'd imagine Portland wouldn't be interested in an Aldridge for Lopez swap.

How does that = "dumping Lopez and rebuilding around Cousins"?

Re: Trade Targets
I'll fux with cousins simply to buy low and jettison hump, but making him our starter center going forward is shallow and bedantic. Let a rebuilding team waste time on him.

Really?
So you'd have a problem with trading for Cousins, who was an 18/11 guy last season, then moving Lopez for a legit power forward like Smith?
Williams
Johnson
Wallace
Smith
Cousins
Sign me up yesterday for that starting 5.

Re: Trade Targets
I don't like Cousins that much either. The guy is a nut and coach killer.... wait a minute. Maybe if we bring him in he will get Avery fired!
Anyway, I would rather try to trade hump, brooks, a pick or 2 and see what kind of PF or 6th man 2 guard we can get.

Re: Trade Targets
Just so we're all on the same page... Cousins isn't that good. He plays on the perimeter twice as much as Lopez does with half the efficiency.
All the talk about Cousins being a potential franchise level player should be put to rest until he does something noteworthy in the league.
(Oh and his "intriguing" skillset be damned, Cousins can drift to the perimeter but he misses badly from there, and he can make fancy passes but many of them end up going to the other team, his versatility really means nothing given that the many things he can do he doesn't do well and thus shouldn't be doing in the first place...)

Re: Trade Targets
What about waiving Childress and bringing in a guy like Arenas or Redd from FA on a small 1 year and see how it works?

This isn't a video game. Big numbers on a terrible team are not indicative of winning basketball. You throw out 18/11 like it means anything.
Does he play defense? Can he pass? Can he fit into an offense? Will he hustle? Will he buy Into a system?

So averaging 18/11 mean nothing due to being on a losing team?
Poor poor poor argument there.

Sounds like Brook Lopez to me (in numbers alone, not attitude or anything).

Re: Trade Targets
With Cousins, it's the historic inefficiency he puts up those numbers with that make them so hollow.
I mean that in a literal sense, not as a hyperbolic adjective. He has been historically inefficient for a big man with his usage rate.
Can he turn that around? His attitude is horrible. Just so horrible. I don't know that he is coachable in the least bit no matter who it is teaching him.
I don't know that you can pass him up if he would really come on the super cheap, because he does have huge potential, a ton of talent and freak measures.
But there's a reason he will come on the cheap if he can be had at all.
Cousins is a dude that really needs his ass kicked in the worst way. I mean like the snot beaten out of him.

I could potentially see this happening
Kings Get: Taylor, Teletovic, Brooks, 2013 draft picks, Zeller.
Cavs Get: Cousins, Humphries, Salmons
Nets Get: Varejao, Hayes, Gibson
Kings Roster:
Thomas/Taylor/Jimmer
Brooks/Thornton
Johnson/Garcia
Robinson/Teletovic
Zeller/Thompson
Cavs Roster:
Irving/Sloan
Waiters/Miles
Gee/Salmons
Hump/Thompson
Cousins/Samuels
Nets Roster:
D-Will/CJ
Joe/Gibson/Stack
Gerald/Bogans/Toko
Varejao/Evans/Hayes
Lopez/Blatche/
Would you do it?
