Let's talk about Jordan Hill

Post#1 » by Wreckus13 » Sun Dec 23, 2012 11:53 pm

Ok, so at first he wasn't getting minutes despite proving his worth. But he got minutes last game vs GS and he was good. IMO he deserves to start, he's a beast on the glass, quick on d, and he has a solid mid range game too.

Obviously that would mean Pau is as good as gone but we could get deeper on the wings in a possible trade.

I just want to know what my fellow Laker fans think about this. Do you think he should start?

No!

Unless we trade Pau for a sg/sf then Hill could start if not keep bringing him off the bench.

wow this again, but yes Hill should start on other teams just not here. Howard and Gasol are better than him. I'm not taking anything away from Hill. I love the guy, great player

Hill deserves consistent playing time but not on this team. And the only way I want him as a starter is if Howard goes down. Dwight and Hill with Nash on the floor compliment each other how?

So you're in the "Pau has plenty left in the tank" camp? What has Pau shown us lately that leads anybody to believe he's capable of playing great basketball???

Where do I even mention Pau? I'm not willing to bench Pau for Hill if that's what you're getting at. Pau isn't being utilized correctly but even still he's a brilliant passer and has pretty decent 15-20 jumper. Defensively he's had his struggles but you're going to have to lose something at this point of his career to gain an efficient offense.

The floor spacing among Howard/Hill/Kobe would be horrible on the offensive end. What is Nash's place in this lineup? That lineup is completely alien to how D'Antoni is used to running his teams also. It would never happen unless Howard goes down and even then it probably won't. D'Antoni will likely slide Pau to the 5 and insert Jamison at the 4.

If you give Pau 41 shots I'm sure he can get you 30+ points.

I like how Mike is adjusting his rotation to matchups, something Brown never did. However, all those years of Phil have me expecting consistnecy out of playing time and rotations, so I'm kind of split.

Doubtful. He is missing a lot of easy ones in the paint as of late. Pau really is hard to f8gure out. Is he worn out, is he in a slump, or is he some kind of head case. His passing has been great. I think he will get better as the season goes along. He is vital if la wants a ring this year.

He gets his shot blocked by people significant inches shorter then him on several occasions and you think he can put up 41 shots? Dude is done

done as a big at 32 just six months removed from that Olympic performance where he almost took out Team USA on his own in the third quarter, yeah sure. lol I guarrantee that if he's traded to play the C he'll put up 18/10 on over 50% shooting again.

Your right. Pau as a center is a beast. But he's wasting away with us shooting jumpshots. Not to mention he's just too slow to guard 4s and we need defense lol.

Still he averaged 17/10 on 50% last year at the 4, on a PER over 20 so he should be used better on offense. On D, yeah there's not much you can do about it, especially these days when teams are playing small ball more and more.

Pau could use a change of scenery where he can be the main guy in the post, but there's no way I'd like to see Hill start over him. I value Hill in that he understands his ROLE and does a great job at it, so he should be in that rotation of Howard/Gasol/Hill as far as that goes. Every team needs role players, and Hill is one of those guys who should be in rotation.

I'd love to see MDA figure out how to use Howard and Gasol at the same time the way the Memphis bigs play well together, but that is a topic of its own.

This is flabergastingly stupid. Yes, it needed it's own new word for qualification.
