Where do you rank Kobe among today's top players?

Post#1 » by GeneralNash » Wed Dec 26, 2012 11:06 am

I think the truly elite players of today are in no particular order: Kobe, Durant, Lebron, and Carmelo. We can throw Chris Paul in there I suppose, but I don't think he is really among those four.

1. King James
2. Kobe
3. Carmelo
4. Durant

I would make a top ten, but I really do not have the time to think and put people on a list cause I do not want to be wrong about it. However the 4 I just mentioned defenately would be in that order.

Honourable Top Ten: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh and D. Wade (slowly declining)

Swap Melo and Kobe and it's ok

Pretty remarkable .....if you'd ask me this question last year no way I'd put him in the top 5 and now he's been arguably the 3rd best player in the league at age 34 and in his 17th season

I think he stays on the podium all season long and I see only a healthy Dwight challenging him for the 3rd spot

Just go back to the thread (ESPN player rankings) where almost everybody on here was trashing me because I said Kobe was still a top 4 player in the league at that time. Its not even debatable period. The only thing this team is missing is a fully healthy Dwight and we will be dominate.

Kobe is currently top 3

1) Lebron
2) Durant
3) Kobe
4) Melo
5) Rondo

This 1000%

Why i hate bandwagon fake Laker fans on these threads lately. We've been blessed as Laker fans with a transcendent player over the past 17 seasons and all people do is bash the guy, when all he does is play hard and leaves it on the court EVERY GAME. Is he perfect...no, but the guy is a WINNER. And the level he is currently still playing at is a testiment to his greatness and work ethic. I really root for this guy (Although he plays for my Lakers) to win another ring this season, to shut up all these critics and people who overanalyze these games. Appreciate the guy while he's here because once he's gone... He's gone!!!

1. lebron
2. durant
3. paul
4. kobe

i haven't had kobe that high in a while, but he's having a heck of an efficient season that is hard to ignore. if he was just average defensively and not a borderline liability this season he might jump cp3.

funny thing is all the kobe bashers and lebron lovers (im not a lebron hater)....they always say kobe's 1st 3 rings dont count soo he's not a great winner...but the 04 loss to the pistons was supposed to be kobe's to bear?...and even with his only "2 rings"...he still has more than lebron.... o no, wait kobe's not a winner because pau apparently carried kobe to those 2 rings... even though lebron needed wade and bosh....

Never thought Kobe would re-take the top SG spot from Wade but he's done it.

Aside from a few hiccup games here and there he's been relatively stellar. I just wish I could stop reading all the guys on here complaining every time he takes a shot. For a 34 year old on a million miles and multiple knee surgeries, he's a stud.

You are crazy. Durant is incredible.

And there ain't no 'As' and 'Bs' with LeBron anymore. That guy is on his own planet.

'Cause it's painful to watch. You saw the difference between Christmas day and the Golden State game. With Nash on board, let the offense work for you instead of forcing the issue.

That said, it certainly is remarkable that he's still going so strong. I think about all the guys who have already come and gone on his watch -- Vince, McGrady, maybe now even Wade -- and it truly blows my mind that he's still cranking out games like he did yesterday. I definitely take him for granted.

Certainly been a top five player this year. I go LeBron, Durant, Paul, Bryant and Anthony.

Sorry sir I disagree about the difference in the GS game and the Christmas day NY game. Kobe went to the basket 19times and didnt get not 1 single call. And he made the BIG SHOTS (Also Nash & Metta) when it mattered most. I watched the game, it was unreal how a guy can attack the basket 19 times and not get a call especially when he's a superstar.

hmm that GS game was a tale of two halves though. That first half he wasn't playing within the offense at all. The second half he did a much better job and some shots he usually makes simply weren't falling.

Yesterday's game he played great with Nash and it was really encouraging.

kobe tends to get on the refs' sh*t list a lot easier and more often than all the other superstars in the NBA to the extent they think kobe is faking, being demonstrative or combinations thereof

but asking kobe to change his spots is like asking the sun not to rise
