I do have to wonder about the defensive ratings when I see Blake Griffin and Carlos Boozer in the top 10. Tyson Chandler leads the offensive ratings by an obscene amount which is also interesting.

I beileve the stat is based on pts per 100 posessions while that player is on the court. So being that the Clippers/Bulls are top defenses, and they both play big minutes, they benefit individually from being on great team defenses. Its one of those cases where you have to look at each player to make a determination if its really individual or team success. In Drummonds case, its clear by watching him that our defense is good because of him, and not that he has good stats because he's on a great team defense.

Boozer/Griffin are more the beneficiaries of playing next to Noah/Jordan. Like when Moose starts to play big minutes next to Drummond, he will probably be high up on that list too. But Drummond is clearly the man responsible.

Chandler's offensive rating is probably high because he plays big min with Carmelo/Kidd.

AD's career night is an exciting glimpse (I hope) of things to come. His lateral quickness and explosiveness I allow him to not only backup his teammates, but recover from his own mistakes and brain lapses. If this kid gets the concept of team and individual defense like Rodman and the Wallaces, he's going to shatter a ton of records and win over a ton of haters.

There's a lot of work for him to put in to reach those heights. As a starter I think he has the potential to average about 17 pts off of put backs, pick and rolls, and running the floor. Once the kids gets a dump down offensive game he could be 25 ppg scorer.

All that hinges on a lot of if's and other possibilities.

Being I witnessed Rodman and Dwights rookie season in person, I think those two had much fire and desire in their game like they had something to prove. Drummond doesn't have that look in him like those guys, but has more talent right off the bat than those guys for sure. Thus, he has a high ceiling and already has proved people wrong about his floor. He will be an all-star someday barring disaster.

I remember Rodman's rookie year and his subsequent Pistons years. He made a TON of mistakes the first few years. Daly was frequently on the sideline saying "What the F bomb"!! Still Dennis the Menace played so hard he usually made up for the mistake sometimes in the same play or the next play.

Drummond has that sort of athleticism. He isn't going to play mistake free basketball for a long time, but he will be able to make for his mistakes as well as those made by others. He's learning to play with a motor.

I thought it was interesting to hear Harden didn't used to play with anything resembling a motor until Doug Collins kept prodding him to do so in college. Now dude is tearing the league up. When Drummond learns and it really clicks, he's going to be a major issue.

Im going to have to disagree with D12 having more fire and desire his rookie year. He had out of this world conditioning but I didnt see him play like he had a chip on his shoulder.

Dwight did not have more desire than Drummond. Both guys are about the same.

I honestly see Drummond as a Howard type player. I am that high on him. I have him in my fantasy league and everytime I see him putting up double doubles in 20 minutes I wish he was on the Knicks.

Was last night an aberration or is Frank going to start putting more minutes in for AD?
