Help me get Rajon Rondo

Post#1 » by 21shumpshumpst » Thu Dec 27, 2012 2:33 am

I right now almost always win blocks/rebounds. TOs and Pts I am always competitive. 3pts/stls sometimes competitive. Assists I am abysmal.

I really really want Rondo. My trade with Horford/Parker went through.

Right now my team is
C Howard/Pek/Horford
PF Brow/Zbo/Drummond
SF Gay/Leonard
SG JJ Redick/jr Smith
PG lillard/Parker

Her team always wins steals and assits but she is not competitive in rebounds or blocks at all.

Here is her team.
C Duncan/Okafor/Chandler
PF Steve Novak
SF Pierce, Jason Richarson
SG Lou Williams/Dudley
PG Rondo, Kemba, Lowry

I want to try to see if Parker/Drummond is enough to do it. She loves the Knicks so JR smith might have to get involved.

What do you guys think I should offer? Thanks.

Don't think you need him tbh. You need 3s. Rondo doesn't provide any. If you give up Parker and Smith you will really need 3s. Parker/Drummond shouldn't get accepted. I'd be shopping Gay for another PG, and her team isn't compatible with that.

I'd be trying to get Pierce. Gay/Smith for Pierce. Gay/Drummond for Pierce. Honestly, your teams just aren't compatible. If she doesn't accept Gay for Pierce (and value-wise Pierce >> Gay so I dunno why she would) there's not much you can do imo.

Apathy btw thanks for answering all these questions.

Would you do Parker/Pek for Rondo/Novak?
He gets pts/rbs and Parker offsets the loss of assits in Rondo. I get Assists/3s/steals.

Thoughts?

No. Parker's having a career-best season and is only slightly worse than Rondo.

Rondo's always a bit overrated in fantasy leagues. And you never get him cheap because he's a huge name. I don't know why you want him so much. To acquire him you usually have to pay 110% of his value. That's sub-optimal because even though he's a monster in a few categories, he's also an absolute DOG in others, so you inevitably end up creating a new hole.

I think you want Rondo because you feel your assists are terrible, but you just got 10 APG a game (Parker's 7, Horford's 3) for free (two injured players). I don't think you need assists anymore. If you do, you only need a few, like the upgrade from Gay to Pierce.

He doesn't mention it in this thread but this is a keeper league. And Parker wouldn't make the cut if he's keeping only 5 players from that roster.

Plus this league doesn't count FG% for some reason so that should explain the need for Rondo.

Unfortunately Apathy is right that team isn't a very compatible trade partner. You would have to over pay to pry Rondo away. I'd stop taking trade offers from you if you sent over Parker/Drummond for Rondo. But I'm not a fan of the aging Parker nor do I think Drummond will develop fast enough to be considered a top 60 player next year.

I don't understand why people don't list ALL THE LEAGUE SETTINGS when asking for advice

I'd bet on Drummond being t60 next year. I'd have noooo problems keeping him.

And why wouldn't Parker make the cut? He's guaranteed t50. I'd take him over the perennially overrated Gay no problem.

If you want Rondo, offer Parker/Leonard. That's pretty fair. Or Parker/Gay for Rondo/decent throw-in.

Drummond is going to be a beast. I definitely think he might be a keeper.

I might do Parker/Gay. Agreed Gay is overrated. He keeps letting me down in these things.

I think Drummond will be just outside the t60, unless he shows he can stay out of foul trouble once they increase his minutes. Did you see that wiretap about how Detroit not wanting to increase his minutes because they aren't in a youth movement mindset? What BS, what does that organization think it's been doing the lottery the last few years? Definitely not contending. Though him into the fire!

I can still see Parker in the top 50 next year but I think Howard, Horford, Davis, Zbo, Lillard and yes even Mr. Overrated all ahead of him. Plus if he's keeping Drummond now he's gotta consolidate of 3 of his top 8 players.

The thing with Parker is there a so many other PGs in the top 50 I'd rather have than him. Sell high no his current rank and get the player you want.

For most bigs that'd be a problem, but 1.9 PF in 20mpg is really good for a rookie. My concerns are more about how Drummond/Monroe fit together. Pretty huge frontcourt. Spacing/D issues. But Drummond's gonna play no matter what. He'll prob average 25+ mpg post AS break, 30mpg+ in April.

I don't think the Pistons tanked last year. There's value to making young'ns earn it imo. There's also value to throwing them into the fire. -shrugs-

Zbo and Parker are the same to me. Wouldn't want either of them as a keeper but in the short-term they'll do.

The thing about consolidating his keepers is that his team looks like 1st-place material, so it's not that simple. Frankly if we're talking about playing this league out for 5 years, I'd take Drummond over Parker, Zbo no questions asked. Agree w/ your last paragraph.
