And yet everyone in the front office is sitting on their hands waiting for something to happen. What could they possibly be waiting for?

Wondering if there will be some major shakeups by the deadline. I didn't even realize Hump didn't play at all til like an hour after the game, but he's not even the one I'm talking about.

Avery has to be close to gone.

Then who else?

Hump is likely to be traded if they can.

JJ is untradable unless we're talking for like Amar'e, which I wouldn't totally rule out happening.

Brook has to be on the hot seat as well, I just wonder who he can be dealt for, or who they are willing to deal him for?

A lot of people, including and more so who I am pointing to, in the media, keep parroting stuff like, "Nets wouldn't trade Brook for Melo...", acting as though nothing has changed in 2 years... I don't think Billy is stupid enough to panic trade him for Varejao or Cousins, but who else would he and would that team agree to the deal?

Deron, JJ and Crash are here to stay though. Deron cause he's the face of the franchise and you'd never get full value for him. JJ cause he's basically untradeable. Crash cause he's our only leader and a needed glue guy.

I don't think it's as much a matter of the pieces not fitting as it is of players not being put in a position to succeed.

Players aren't getting the ball in the right situations / areas of the floor. Why is Joe Johnson only getting the ball in the post? Why does Brook Lopez have to float to the wing just to get the ball? Why is Gerald Wallace forced to freelance for all of his buckets? etc.

The above problems aren't 100% Avery (Lopez on the wing is a disturbing trend that first manifested itself when Kiki was coaching the Nets), but they can be fixed with a competent coach.

---

Defensively the Nets need to get back to the basics. Stop with all the goddamn senseless switching. Pick up your man, ride him, rip his head off, but for the love of god stop giving up straight lines to the basket. Oh and throwing a hand up at three-point shooters would also be appreciated.

---

Ugh... I'm starting to feel like the only way to salvage this season is to bring in a competent coach who can create a well-defined system a la Stan Van Gundy. Even if Avery gets fired, I don't have much confidence in the Nets assortment of assistant coaches.

Avery could go sooner... but of course that probably means and interim coach taking over and as you and Regg-g-unit have pointed out its not like we've got a great assistant who could turn things around. PJ would be most likely to take over and he'd just be more of the same.

Humphries is still hurt. I think the Nets may be in a situation where they are stuck with Humphries until next season.

Brook Lopez could eventually be moved but I don't see that happening prior to a new coach being hired. Like I mentioned in another thread, Lawrence Freaking Frank managed to get Lopez to play with his back to the basket first, and then all that soft stuff on the wing and those trick shots in the lane second. If a competent coach is hired I'd imagine they try to do the same thing...

Deron is staying as he should (let's not pull a classic RealGM here and overreact wildly when a player is having a down stretch / season)... There are times when I want to slap the dude in the face but the direction of the franchise hinges on him returning to his pre-injury form.

If Avery does get another vote of confidence / is staying for the whole year I think it's pretty much a certainty that MarShon Brooks will be traded for a bag of chips (whatever the Nets can get) and that another **** veteran will be brought in.

I can't wait for the trade deadline... regardless of where we stand in the win-loss column.

NI basically just implied that Hump's "abdominal strain" is fake (rather unsubtly), just like Kidd's migraines. My guess is that Nets already have a trade agreed, and I have a feeling its going to be ilyasova.

Well, Ilyasova could be solid.

But then it's just Hump and picks for whoever the trade is for? And we're going to hold him out for 20 days with a fake injury? IDK man. NI claims to know a lot of stuff and then it never happens or the opposite comes true.

Yeah that would be dumb. Then again the way this season is going...

So serious question do we want the Nets to lose to the Bobcats (who are on a 16 game losing streak) and the Cavaliers in this upcoming back-to-back?

I mean if they dropped both games... Avery would have to be gone right?

I'm hoping to see Avery gone when I wake up tomorrow (or rather this morning). If he's not well life as a Nets fan goes on, although it does so painfully.

Shots fired, it's getting ugly. Crash is going off.

Gerald: "Guys are content with the situation we are in & I’m f——— pissed off about us losing, especially losing the way we are losing."

More Gerald: “We play a good half or a great quarter and then we go back to playing selfish ball … that’s not getting us anywhere.”

I'm content with keeping Crash, JJ, and Deron for the long run. This team has to start shaking things up though. Whether we get Ilyasova or a good 6th man (IMO needed mostly), Avery at least has to go. We need a new coach, a new system, a new style, and a **** sense of identity!

Looks like Crash is ready to take the leadership role. This is good. Of the guys we have, he's really the one personality that is like this.

Whilst watching this game.... The biggest thing that hit me was Avery realising he had lost his players and was coaching his last game as a net.....

Return to Brooklyn Nets
