Gonna have to take our lumps this season.

There seems to be a lot of general pining out there for the Jazz to make a move to get a PG. Who exactly do you think is available out there? Jose Calderon? Eric Maynor? Those kind of guys are fine players, but they will never be good enough to get us anything beyond an occasional first round out.

The smartest thing the Jazz can do right now is wait until a deal for a legitimate youngish star (at any position) is available, and then do ANYTHING they can to get that guy, up to and including trading Favors, Kanter, or Hayward. Until this team has a legit (read: not Al Jefferson) 1st option, we are doomed to .500 ball or worse. If the Jazz can't find a star, then we just have to take our lumps and pray to the god of ping pong balls.

Once you have a star, you can develop your team around that guy. Until you have a star, all you have is a collection of assets who's sole purpose should be to get that star. Trading for other teams pieces doesn't get you anywhere. We will probably have to take a chance on someone with some warts, unless we get really lucky in the draft, but that CAN work. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz make a move for Demarcus Cousins or for John Wall, but trading for the Luke Ridenours of the world get us no where.

I would defenitely get cousins depending on his price. You don't have to keep him long just hopefully you "buy" low (are low compared to his talent) and sell high when the time is right. I mean the guy is gonna produce high numbers when he gets playing time, the trick is to keep his name out of the media with negative stuff and not to keep him too long unless your convienced that you wanna keep him. He's worth the challenge tho.

Also getting tyreke, jennings, ect .. are guys you also can get while there value is still low then flip them later if they don't fit into your long term plans. Buy low and sell high, thats how we get a contender.

The Jazz, in all honesty, don't need an all-star point guard. They just need a guy who can set up plays/distribute, shoot, control pace and get the offense flowing. Then the team needs to get back to the old-school flex offense more consistently.

Bring back the flex offense!! More enjoyable watching all the off the ball cuts then the isolation post jobs right now.

Yeah, I miss the old offense a lot. Something really bad happened to the Jazz offense the moment they brought in Al Jefferson. Don't interpret that as me hating on Al, it's just the Jazz's offense has never been the same since he "replaced" Boozer.

I think Burks could be trained as a good point guard. He could drive to the basket and pass off creating better offense. The Jazz might not know what they have.

Nah, we're clearly better off playing Burks as a small forward.
