How do you guard someone who's range is anywhere within 30 feet?

Love small guards that can rebound. Really shows they are busting ass out there, and that type of energy is infectious.
I miss you CP3

To be fair, no other PG in the league dunks like Westbrook...not even DRose. He's one of the best dunkers at his position of all time.

The Bandit wrote:Not much chat about Meyers Leonard lately. I noticed he has slipped behind Babbit in the rotation. How's he progressing? Has he learned a shred of defense yet?
To be honest, I am still disappointed with his defense so I'm not holding out hopes for him being elite in that department, but I think he will be a good defender by his mid twenties. He is raw and will need some extra time to learn the NBA defense but the athleticism and the work ethic are there.
His free throw shooting is good, and I think the team will eventually be able to move the ball through him in the high post, but I don't know if he will ever have a skill to hang his hat on. His free throw shooting will make him a good option to have on the court at center to close out games though, so that type of jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none center is worth developing.
If someone knows a good Meyers Leonard highlight video, maybe fans of other teams will enjoy a collection of his nba dunks. Some are quite spectacular, and it is interesting having a center who can throw down like that while shooting close to 90% from the free throw line.

Meyers has to learn to be productive with his agility rather than brute force. He is not a strong guy so he has to learn how to sneak around other bigs for rebounds, use his body wisely for position. He might turn out to be a more athletic Spencer Hawes. Yeah I compare them because they are white.

Leonard needs more lower body strength, he gets knocked around a bit too easy when fighting for rebounds.

I dont even think it is about increasing his lower body strengh. It looks like he doesnt even know how to use his ass to bump people. Uses his back and shoulders a lot instead.

Andre Drummond had a beast game when he was given the PT. Hopefully Frank got the point.

Frank is making Andre earn his minutes, and Andre has looked better each month. Hes averaging 22 minutes in December, up from 17 in November and 13 in November. Its only a matter of time before Andre is playing 30+ minutes and starting especially since Maxiel has been so bad.

Even though I voice the same complaints for the Raptors rookies, I do see the sense of not giving the rookies everything right away. In fact I support it; I've been angry about it for now because I don't think the Raptors have better players out there, but if it's for the long term I can learn to stomach it.
As a fan I have to learn not to evaluate coaches by thinking they have to align lineups depending on their hot hand.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread pt. II
I was all about Drummond starting from day one and getting big minutes, but that was when the Pistons were talking about making the playoffs. Because I thought the only way the make the playoffs is with Drummond starting right away in big minutes.
But, now that playoffs are out of the question, and I see some inconsistency with Monroe/Knight (who were both handed the keys very early), I'm in agreement with bringing Drummong along at a slow and steady incline.
I also wonder if the Pistons privately think they made a mistake with Knight/Monroe by giving them the keys right away. Because they can be undisciplined and lack effort at times. Maybe they are deciding they don't want Drummond to develop those same tendencies, so decide to make him earn it. So far you can't complain with how he's developing, so their method must be working.

Monroe wasn't given the keys at all until this year. His usgae rate was very low as a Rookie. Knight also hasn't been handling the ball full time and he wasn't last year either. Neither have been given much freedom to maneuever within the offense.

I sincerely doubt that.
I wouldn't trade Lillard or Davis for Drummond straight up right now if it was on the table and I had the power to accept the trade.
Drummond has yet to face teams structuring their entire defensive plan around stopping what he does. Can't say the same for guys like Lillard or Davis...

Drummond is playing extremely well against the Heat right now. The Pistons were just getting shredded defensively till he came in. They've come back from 15 points down to take the lead now. His defensive presence is just huge.
Monopoman, I think you're missing why others think Drummond is going to be so good. Think Mutombo, not Kareem. He can score 5 points and dominate a game anyway.

Drummonds' impact is defensive. He is a rare defensive anchor. How other teams game plan against his offense is irrelevant since he is capable of taking over a game defensively.
