Getting LMA by trying to get KLove

Post#1 » by inquisitive » Thu Dec 27, 2012 7:58 pm

Is this pointless or worth a shot? or just go for LMA via third team...basically, putting together a package w/o giving up Parsons, Harden, and Lin(doubt Minny would want him anyway) for KLove...then flip KLove in the summer for LMA...very likely that the Blazers wouldn't turn down that....reason i say Klove is that there seems to be some dissension with him/Minny going on, so very likely possibility he gets moved by deadline.

I think LMA would be a better fit too...someone who can post down low and also hit that 17ft jumper with ease. Just ideal fit with Harden i think.

I don't think that there is a realistic deal the Rockets could offer that would get Portland's attention.

Love is definitely on the table, but let's face it: dude is a diva. Would he be a distraction here if he doesn't like the system? I'm assuming that he and Harden got along on the Olympic team because it sure looked like Beard was recruiting him last night!

Cousins is a knucklehead, but I think that he would fit in here and could be had for a cheaper price than Love. Minny will ask for a core piece, but I think that we can appeal to Sacramento with youth and taking back bad contracts. Besides, we are obligated by law to make at least one trade with Sacto per season.

So if we are obligated, them make a trade for Chuckwagon.

So long Jones??????? Hell, I'd even send Patterson there. Chuckwagon can start at PF. Make morris our SF or PF (6th man) off the bench.

I still want either on this team, but Love's defense has been making me rethink if LMA is better. But both seem off the table for now.

So what was the reason people didn't want Josh Smith? He's shooting a decent three point percentage, is a good all around player and good defender (do you guys think his D is better than Love and LMA?). His free throw shooting has been bad. I don't know, as I haven't watched the Hawks that closely.

Could we sign him and then trade him for one of these guys if it doesn't work out?

Edit: Paul Millsap's contract seems to be better and he is more efficient, although not as good on D. His outside shooting is better as well, so he'll space the floor better.

What pieces do we have to even trade? I think we lose our first rounder this year if we make the playoffs right?

I think the more likely scenario will be Morey uses our remaining cap space at the trade deadline from a team looking to shed salary in an effort to gain some assets along with it, and armed with a new expiring contract + the traded assets, and a first rounder the following season it may be enough to pull something off. Not sure if Morey is even interested in any of the FAs this upcoming offseason.

Can't do it, it's against forum rules.

I've tried, but apparently being associated with the Jazz does not violate the RealGM TOS.

Believe me, I'm working to change this! ;)

I think Kevin Love would be perfect for this Rockets squad. I can't imagine Portland parting with Aldridge under almost any scenario.

If we somehow manage to get Love then we stop right there. Aldridge is to old for the core of this team IMO plus Love is the better player.

Minny is not trading Love but I can see Portland trading Aldridge when they find out you can not build around him and that he is just to old for there core. They may not trade him this year but the next Aldridge just might be on the market

I have expressed my opinion on Smith far to much and don't feel like saying why again but just stay the hell away from Smith. Millsap has one year left so no in trading for him. He is maybe the better option but you can sign him come the offseason but he is just not good enough to warrant taking time away from the youngsters

For some reason I don't hate him, and he's better than our current PFs, as well as cheaper than most guys we mentioned. I think there are whole threads about fans thinking we should get him on different Rockets boards.

Oh yeah, and Kate Upton is hot. Don't be the sharp knees guy.

I don't think the Rockets could get Love via trade. I think they would have to wait until he opts out and then offer him a max deal. In the meantime, perhaps pickup a David West, Paul Millsap or trade for Demarcus Cousins, etc. as a stopgap.

Love can opt out after the 14/15 season.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned this. His effort agains us was comical and he's definitely getting thrown in the diva class with dwight and other players like him. I agree theres basically no way we get LMA. Portland has their core of batum, la, and lillard and they will build around them. I'd love to have him but I think the best thing we can do is either a. get al jefferson or b. stand pat and wait until free agency. No one else intrigues me and if we are going to put someone next to asik they need to be strong offensively so Varejao doesn't count....

the wolves will get better as the season progresses i think, thus they're going through a rough time right now not winning and expectations are high...which is why morey needs to pounce on this right now cause once the wolves figure it out... unless klove says some crap publicly again.

i do prefer us to play our young guys and develop them, but if motie isn't going to get any pt, we might as well include him in a deal for klove or lma...though probably much harder to get lma at this point.

Love isn't going to get traded. His contract isn't up until after the 2014 season. They have no reason to trade him right now.
