Jamison Baffled With Consecutive DNPs, Doubts Future With Lakers
Dec 29, 2012 1:51 AM EST

Antawn Jamison has fallen out of Mike D'Antoni's rotation in the Los Angeles Lakers' frontcourt.

Jamison hasn't played since Dec. 16 against the 76ers, which was the last game before Pau Gasol returned.

"It doesn't make sense at all," said Jamison. "They're pretty much telling me my services are no longer needed."

This guy seriously needs to STFU. Bitching about playing time? Dude, you're almost 40 and you play no defense. By "services" do you mean jacking up a 3 with 20 sec left on the shot-clock? Who cares how many minutes you play, this is all about the TEAM. I didn't think you were a player like that. Boy was I wrong.

Too bad no team will give us a 2nd round pick for him. We're not taking one minute away from Jordan Hill to give to Jamison. Our 3-man big man rotation is set, and if he can't play backup SF, it's on him.

You can't blame him for being a little irked. He was playing decent before D'Antoni chose Jordan Hill over him. I felt kind of bad for him when D'Antoni didn't even play him in garbage time today.

If I'm Pringles I have a a meeting with Antawn and explain to him that he'd be happy to play him in garbage time to see how he does. I'd give him a chance to work his way back into the rotation and if Antawn isn't happy with that opportunity then he can continue riding the pine of wait to be traded.

Antawn should be smart enough to figure out why he's riding the pine at this point.

D'Antoni isn't smart enough to use him properly so I understand his concerns.

This is what happens on D'Antoni teams, he decides who he doesn't like and forces them outta town. Jamison will join a playoff team and contribute.

Jamison...he has had some good games but he is a liability on defense. Also I did see a moment where he "thought he was too good to huddle" with his teammates.

Guys like Jamison can become a detriment to the team. He is a older player that doesn't want to be lead by his younger or more talented superiors. Rather LA play ebanks over Jamison...ebanks provides better and younger defensive legs on the perimeter and is more willing to follow the general, and kobe/dwight's leadership.

Why not just start him over Morris, makes more sense to me, Morris has been playing like garbage lately.

At seasons end, Jamison will be the back up PF. That experiment with Ron at the 4 looks "nice" until Ron comes back to earth which he has already started to. Ron will always be a liability on the offensive side.

say what^?? ron is having his best season in years coming back from injuries and by far the most consistent laker on both ends of the floor. We need jamison to be ready to absorb future injuries.

OP trying to stir drama over a Jamison quote. :-? Really?

It would be warranted if this were a younger guy or a guy with a history of trouble but Antawn's been one of the best locker room guys since he's entered the league.

This isn't a dramatic soap opera in the making. Jamison isn't that guy. He just voiced his opinion with honesty and that's all its going to be and you should have no reason to believe otherwise. He'll be ready whenever Mike D calls on his services. He's a professional.

Jamison sucks and shouldn't be complaining. He's the worst defensive player on the team and at his position it's a huge problem. Offensively he's useless as a stretch 4. People are seriously kidding themselves if they think he's a good floor spacer. Back in his heyday he did most of his scoring in the paint with those awkward floaters/moves or from mid-range, but his outside shooting has always been suspect and inconsistent. Remember how he was supposed to solve all the Cavs problems as a stretch 4 and how miserably that failed? He's simply not a good spot-up shooter and that's what the team needs. Neither is Pau, of course, but at least Pau has an excellent passing game and can bother players with his length on defense.

Anyway, he was only brought in because he had experience playing in the Princeton and because we needed more depth at the 4 in case of injury. He should just STFU because he is getting paid damn good money to suck and do nothing.

Lakers signed the guy. Its not like it was a mystery he was a non-entity on defense. Guys like Jamison sign after discussing his role and understanding he will get minutes. Multiple DNPs don't make much sense. If you weren't going to play bad defensive players then Nash would never step onto the court. Meeks isn't a good defender. I can understand why Jamison is frustrated. But then again - D'Antoni isn't really a coach. He's a guy that has been a coach on teams that Nash has played on and let Nash coach.

Jamison has had one exceptional game this season, a couple decent ones and the rest he's pretty much looked like a negative entity on the court... No shot and still no D.

We need to win... Not worry about finding PT for everyone... Fortunately, we've been winning without Jamison. If this continues, I couldn't care less if he never sees the court.

Frankly I like what D'Antoni did last night... I'd like to try to get a guy like Clark going instead, because he has the potential to play decent D at both forward spots and also hit some shots... Not saying he'll consistently do this, just that we've seen all Jamison can do, why not gamble a little on an unknown in garbage time and see where it takes us.

The coach is a idiot A. Jamison has played well everywhere he has been and started to play well here then stopped playing him our coach is horrible is rotations suck his lineups are bad he can't find a way to use a 7ft power forward who can post up and can hit a good 15 footer i never liked him as a coach the way he cries after losses and he is always talking about if i do this you media guys are going to kill me it irkes the crap out of me the lakers will never win a tittle with him as the coach they made a horrible mistake he is a loser always have and always will but we are probably stuck with him for 2 more seasons before he is let go they should have went with Phil, Sloan or McMillan they would have been 20 times better Jamison can play and should be in the games be a coach and figure it out

I think we gotta figure out a way to get him on the court. He's just too talented to be wasting away on the bench. Especially as a veteran.. we're going to need him come playoff time.

If he were a professional, he'd say "I just want to do whatever it takes for my team to win". Not "I guess they don't need me". It's all on him. He's handling the situation awfully.
