Steve Nash Setting Screens

Great article about how useful Steve Nash is even without the ball in his hands. This should give some of you a better idea of Mike D'Antoni and his system. Simple concept here , but it works really well.
On a side note, are the other guards on the roster incapable of setting screens? Most of us can knock Nash down, but he's able to be a pest to bigger NBA defenders.

Steve Nash is amazing, he even set a screen for Dwight allowing him great position to catch the pass from gasol. This guy Nash is just awesome

Love it. People think that offense is limited to players doing something when they have the ball in their hands, but playing off the ball (movement, setting screens) is vital as well. That's one of the things I've always appreciated about Kobe's game as well when compared to other dominant wing players.

Steve Nash is a super smart player that will do whatever it take to win. No one can have complaints on the way he plays.

His D has been better than advertised also. I pray for health for this living legend.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Seriously, now that Nash is a Laker I feel deprived that he hasn't been one for longer. Dude is amazing. And yeah, definitely a better defender than advertised (at this age no less). It's kinda hard to tell when you're trotting out Chucky Atkins, Smush Parker, Derek Fisher, and Steve Blake for 8 consecutive seasons.

I've never really realized how great of a player Steve Nash is. I always thought he's an overrated player but man watching him every game. He's definitely a top 5 PG of all time.

I think he has a case for the best non athletic pg of all times lol. not a downer on magic but hes great due to his size. Nash's (normal non athletic white guy) passing angle accuracy with his off hand allows him to find cutters and lobs is the best ive ever seen.
can we get a group buy on nash's jersey already? lol

You should have seen him in his prime... You wouldn't have questioned the MVPs. I'll admit though Kobe equally deserved those MVPs.

I watched some of his games during his prime and it's amazing how he's still the same player 6 years ago.

I was at the 2010 WCF game 5 (Ron hit the buzzer beater layup off Kobe's airball), and despite losing, that performance by Nash (fourth quarter comeback) left me speechless. Best individual athletic performance I've seen in person. I couldn't bring myself to fully root against him, but I'm thrilled that I can actually root for him this season.

Me and my mates have only been watching basketball for a few years but right from the start Nash has been one of my favorite players, its the work ethic, the same thing that makes Kobe so great and I agree if someone asked me whoo my favorite Laker is right now.......it might still be Kobe but not by much.....

He's not quite the same. He's pretty slow now. He was pretty fast in his prime and got more lift on his jumper. Nash could literally score 30 pts per game back then if he had a mind too...but now he just would not have the energy/ability to do so.
One story I always remember about Nash and the first mvp. Phoenix played Dallas in the 2nd round of the playoffs that year. Nash won the mvp and got 15 pts, 11 assists per game. Low #'s for an mvp and people questioned it.
Dallas played Nash to be a scorer that series. These are the stats he put up in the games;
Games: Game 1: May 9, 2005- 11 points 13 assists Game 3: May 13, 2005- 27 points 17 assists Game 4: May 15, 2005- 48 points 5 assists Game 5: May 18, 2005- 34 points 12 assists 13 rebounds Game 6: May 20, 2005- 39 points 12 assists 9 rebounds
And a quote from Stackouse of Dallas went something like...he didn't think Nash was the mvp before the playoffs but now he did.
