Breaking news: Giambi to DL

Jason Giambi was seen by foot and ankle specialist Dr. William Hamilton today and found to have a tear of the plantar fascia. That is the tissue that connects the heel to the base of the toes.

He will go on the disabled list today. Giambi was given a walking boot to immobilize the area and will be evaluated again in three weeks.

No word as of yet who will be called up to replace Giambi on the roster.

This means lots more of Johnny Damon as the DH and Melky Cabrera in center field.

The only one disappointed about this is cmaff, who still believes Damon is one of the best outfielders in baseball.

Hey let's get Bernie back here. He can be our full time DH.

Seriously, has a team ever had these many injuries? Who are we calling up/trading for? -Jitpal

That's not what he was getting at (or at least that's not how I read it). He asked if any team ever had as many injuries as you guys have had this year. I was simply informing him that it is now all that uncommon. It's not like God is spiting the Yankees, just a rash of injuries. mahalo

Ah I see. I just paid attention to the complaining part, saying that Red Sox fans complained and didn't make the playoffs due to their injuries, and we may be on our way.

I do feel bad for you guys because we went through the same thing last year. I just think it's annoying when ANY fan does the "woah is me" routine, like what's happened to them has never happened to anyone else. That's all I'm pointing out, not trying to start a flame war. mahalo
