Let's not forget about John Stockton now.

Stockton was a better defender but Nash is better with the ball than the Pasty Gangster ever was.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

exactly why i said "has a case" stockton was a better defender but their fg % were pretty level..the 3p and ft nash has him beat and lets not forget 2 time mvp.

If there's a gap between their abilities with the ball, it's not a big one.

It's definitely rare to see a player of Nash's calibre be able to set screens as good as the Mad dogg.

Food for thought, Nash consistently led his team to one of the best offense in the league. The same cannot be said for Stockton.

I'm not denying that Nash is good. Never said that. I'm just saying that the gap between those two guys isn't as clear cut as most people would think.

Actually, several of those offenses were of the best of all-time and always best in the league. That's points per possession too.

In my opinion, throughout an average NBA season Steve Nash would be the best player of all-time to have the ball in his hands on offense. On average, he is most likely to get the most points per possession. This was when he is in his prime. I would not put him up there anymore.

Because of his high fg% and ability to only give the ball up and make a perfect pass when a player is in scoring position. Other candidates I would say are Magic, Jordan, and Shaq.

Now I'm not talking playoffs or an individual play. An individual play would be Jordan. You could also say rule change play a part in Nash's success to some degree too. He would not do as well with physical hand checking.

Hand checking would slow down Nash a little, but he's smart enough to figure a way to counteract that.
