who would you rather trade?

I'll be stunned if either Big Al or Sap are on this team after the deadline. I know Al gets a lot of hate on this board, but it's becoming increasingly apparent that at least Corbin prefers Al to sap in the rotation.

If you had to pick, who would you rather see moved by the deadline?

Millsap is just terrible here. I don't think he's lost anything, it's just that he's unhappy and Favors and Kanter are starting to take his minutes. If it were possible, trading him to OKC for Perkins and that Toronto pick would be nice. I don't like Perkins or his contract, but I like another high lotto pick and a serviceable backup center isn't really going to affect our bottom line.

I'd go with Millsap as well. I don't think Paul will ever embrace a sixth man role, and he's probably the more tradeable of the two. I also think Marvin can slide to the backup 4 and provide a lot of what Paul does.

All other things being equal, Millsap. Trades require getting some value back though, so it depends on what is offered.

Millsap definetly. He's just simply not as good as Al. Plus some might disagree but I think Al would sign a contract way below his value just to stay with us since he seems to love it here and tired of being bounced around (plus he already willingly turned down a max contract from the wolves. I think we can get him for a good price and can easily flip him later ff needed.

Millsap on the other hand wants to be a starter and oviously wants to be way overpaid for a guy who should come of the bench. He has no interest in coming off the bench and his contract will likely be harder to flip than Al's imo. So Millsap must go if possible.

I have thought Milsap for a long time. He has been a good player and helped the team in the past, but we have to upgrade his position and we have the talent to do it. I don't know what we could get for Milsap though. By not playing him, his value goes down. Al loves it here and still has something more to give. I am all for trades that help us.

it is sad to witness, but paul plays himself out of the jazz. he's just been really bad this season, even when he puts up decent numbers. i also think he cost himself some money, and may regret not taking the jazz's offer. after the year he's having, he may have to settle for less.

I think both have overstayed their welcome. I like both guys, but neither is a good fit for the Jazz. It's best for all parties to move on. Sure, the jazz will take some lumps in the short term, but I think they will be better for it.

Al is great for an isolation type offense. I don't like watching that style. I like the quick cut of the flex offense. I think we have gone more towards isolation and dropping the ball into Big Al. I think if we went back to a flex offense Paul starts putting up better numbers. He is good at cutting and finding lanes.

Get rid of Al and Corbin.

Jazz fans, in general, overvalue:

Points
Rebounds
Assists
Three-pointers
"Toughness"
Not giving up easy buckets (ie fouling)
Playing while hurt (even if it results in a career-ending injury)

What they undervalue:

Getting to the free throw line
Playing sound positional defense
Rotating correctly on defense
Shooting a good percentage
Making your teammates better

Sometimes this set of values corresponds with a correct appreciation of a players; usually it leads to overvaluing guys like Korver and Harpring and undervaluing guys like Kirilenko.

I would tend to say that I would rather move Al since I think you could MAYBE convince Paul to come off the bench, especially as he begins to get older... but that's a big maybe. I think both demand about the same value in the open market. I know people knock on Jefferson's value but he has just as many weaknesses and limitations as Paul does. They both have the good and great things about them and both have the bad.

While there are ample valid points about Millsap's future contract and what not, I still would rather see Al gone, unless he can somehow magically become effective in an offense with a lot of cutting, screens and passing...the way the Jazz WANT to play.

Anyone else notice that in the few games where the Jazz' offense was flowing and firing on all cylinders that Big Al's line is like 14 pts and 5 reb? And yet, we win those games.

I say trade Big Al, see how Millsap performs and determine whether he's worth bringing back next year at whatever price he demands. If not, let him walk or try for a sign and trade. We'd then simply sign a quality wole-playing big in free agency or via trade who can backup Favors and Kanter, or start alongside Favors while Kanter benefits with more minutes off the bench to polish his game (which he could still do if Millsap stays).

I think we all know that Big Al is just never going to be the #1 or #2 man on a championship contender. He's simply not suited for it.
