4.5 games out

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Mon Dec 31, 2012 10:30 pm

We're only 4.5 games out of the playoffs. Our schedule in January is the easiest its been over the past few years and only play top 5 teams twice (heat and knicks ) we don't play any tough teams from the west. To me it looks like the team will be in playoff contention by the deadline.

Predict the january record:

9-4

I hate making predictions because I always jinx myself, but after beating MIA and MIL and taking ATL to double OT I feel like every game is winnable.

I dont expect to win every game, but the further the season goes, the more min Drummond is going to get, which means the more chance we have of winning.

After that MIA game, if we met the in the 1st round, it would be a fun series. Even if we lost in 5 games, it would be great exp for our young guys.

I think the Pistons are finally on to something. Frank has a history of starting slow and finishing strong. I agree, 9 wins 4 losses!!

We wouldn't lose in 5 against the Heat. We would lose in 4 by an average of 10+ pts per game.

Philly took them to a competitive 5 game series in '10 in the 1st round. IND took them to a competive 6 game series in the 2nd round last year. They are known to get into dogfight series' with teams they should sweep convincingly based on talent. They aren't unlike the 00's Pistons, how we used to always get into tough series with teams like MIL/PHI in the early rounds.

Based on how we played them last week, I could see us being THAT team this year, where every game is competitive and we steal a game at home, but still lose in 5.

Its no secret how we beat them. We had advantages at the 2 positions they are weak at - PG and C. Thats how DAL beat them. Chandler dominated the paint defensively and Kidd/Barea controlled the game from the PG position. Insert Drummond and Bynum, and we basically used the same exact formula. LeBron/Wade have always had trouble against dominant defensive Centers like Chandler, Howard, Wallace, etc. Drummond had the same type of impact on Fri. And they also have always struggled defending little speedy PG's like Barea, of which Bynum played that role to a tee.

We might not even win a game, but I think we could make it a competitve/close entertaing series. We are strong in the 2 positions they are weak at, and we play tough scrappy defense.

I appreciate your argument but I think our team is simply too young to compete at that level. If you look at our players on the court, we have 3 players who play pretty good ball and what I mean by that is they know their roles and play the right way on the court. Those players are Prince, Stuckey, & Max (I hate giving him this credit). One can argue that CV, is also playing his role quite well but his sampling is still too small. In order to beat a team like the Heat, for even one game, all 12 players need to know their roles. I'd LOVE to throw AD into this conversation but I can't. You can clearly see his future but he looks lost on the court from time to time. That said, he would still make us look like we have a chance against MIA when he is on the floor. If you looked at that game then you would see that every one on our team played really good ball. The difference in a playoff setting is that MIA wood get up to play us. They clearly took us for granted and we capitalized!!

i think if Stuckey comes back and starts as our PG with Knight off the ball or a mix of both and singler figures out how to work with Second rotation. Barring any injuries, we'll be in the playoff hunt. , but its hard to see us holding a 8th spot. being that the only reason we started winning is that our proven inconsistent guys started producing consistently. Chances of that being consistent is very unlikely
