If Warriors wanted to acquire Al Jefferson....

Post#1 » by Carhanu » Mon Dec 31, 2012 9:37 pm

....what do you think the Jazz would/should ask for in return? Would it even be possible for the Warriors to acquire Al Jefferson? Do the Warriors have any pieces tha the Jazz want or need?

With Bogut injured, I just was wishing the Warriors could have a good center like Jefferson. It would fill our biggest hole. Biedrins and Ezeli are total garbage. I keep hearing that Jazz fans hate Jefferson for some reason. But when I see Jefferson play, he looks like he can score on the post whenever he wants.

The Warriors haven't had a good center since Erick Dampier's last year in Golden State (he played well in his contract year but sucked before that). Before Dampier, the last good center for the Warriors was WILT CHAMBERLAIN in the freakin 60's or 70's. I wasnt even alive back then.

So you think we could work out a deal for Al Jefferson? Maybe trade Bogut and a future 1st round pick for Jefferson and give the Jazz an excuse to tank this season just like the W's did last season? Obviously it wouldnt make the Jazz worse THIS season since Bogut is injured but for the future... You know the Jazz need to clean house a bit. Giving their young bugs like Kanter and a future high draft pick would be good for the Jazz in the long run.

HAHA they would never give us curry

How about:

Warriors Give: Bogut/K.Thompson/H. Barnes
Jazz Give: A. Jefferson, R. Foye and GS pick

Bogut mabey hurt for the rest of his contract and who knows how long it will take before Barnes and thompson can be consistent contributors for a playoff team and you guys are ready to compete now not waiting a few years for them. In this trade you get a big man thats ready to contribute now (who has clutch ability) and is only 28, a veteran 3 point shooter off the bench and your pick back that will allow you to draft another guy for the future in a big man heavy draft because you guys can use one.

GSW are a good team, and they are playing well. but the only player i would want from that roster is Barnes. i like curry but he's too much of a health risk.

U guys over value Jefferson's trade value.

I don't see the teams as good trade partners. Jefferson/Bell or Watson for Bogut/Jack works.

Jazz get a decent PG while GSW get a healthy center. Jefferson helps the GSW offensively but will hurt them very badly defensively. I doubt it makes the GSW better.

I would rather make a larger deal for someone like Lowery or Rondo.

i see no way in hell the GSW agree to what reapaman proposed, just saying that from their roster the only guy i really want is barnes.

i actually agree with you, the GSW aren't good trade partners given the rosters of the two teams.

I'd do Bogut for Jefferson straight across. In a freaking heartbeat. If we could get a pick on top of that, hell yeah. Bogut is a much better player than Jefferson when healthy, and if he ever got healthy he would solve our problem with defensive rebounding and overall interior defense. Sign me up.

On the other hand, a David Lee/Al Jefferson tandem would almost assuredly be the worst defensive combination in the league. GS would have to be insane to do this.

You guys have no idea what your talking about. Al would be a godsend for GS. He would solve there rebounding issues. He has clutch ability which they need. Him and david Lee would spread defenders out across both blocks freeing up the lane for curry. He won't turn the ball over and foul like crazy. He's a good locker room guy and good veteran presense. Strong offense punch. His defensive woes are being overexagerrated and he's defintely better defensively than the guys they have been starting at center (also would instantly be the best shot blocker on their team). But the biggest thing is that he is HEALTHY and Bogut hasn't been that great in 3 years, he's not trust worthy for the future and AL is. They want someone for more than one year and believe it or not, its gonna be hard to find better value for a center than Al.

Sure you can add some more peices to my deal but don't act like getting bogut and a crap pick for Al is good value. I would rather resign Al and take my chances of flipping him later than the high chances Bogut barely plays in a Jazz uniform or just straight dissapoints due to lingering injuries like his last semi-full season.

Post this on the Warriors board.

I want to see the lulz that would follow in that thread. They'd probably ban you from their board for suggesting such an awful deal for them.

Please do it.

Both suggestions are equally bad. Now we all look like total Homers.

Jefferson/Bell
Bogut/Jack and Future pick does it for me.

how can a guy who hardly played the last two years due to injuries has such a high perceived value? i don't want bogut. period. he is very good when healthy, which is never. even when he plays he plays hurt. i had enough of injury prone players.

and with all due respect to jack (one of my favorite players), he is a backup. are we that desperate for a PG? ok, dumb question. yes we are. but there are better options out there. jack doesn't solve anything long term, unless you want to lock up the spot for your (backup) point guard of the future.

we aren't going to win a championship anytime soon, i think we can all agree on that. so why do we suggest trades that keep us mediocre? we are mediocre right now. no need to long for trades and moves that keep us mediocre for the long term - the front office knows how to do that better than any of us ever will, as they have been for the last X years.

Well of course they won't like that deal as I proposed it but its just a starting point which is why I put a explanation behind it, but the jazz FO could work something out that is benefitual to both teams. Just not for bogut, jack and some crappy pick that does nothing for us and not good value for jefferson. Like I said I rather re-sign Al and take my chances to flip him later than get something back that does our future little good and probley just keeps us medicore (like the FO won't find another even worse way to do that).

Ok counter proposal and something similar to what someone on the warrior board proposed

Warriors Give: Biedrins, Jefferson, Thompson and Barnes
Jazz Give: Jefferson, Bell, Foye, Burks, and GS Pick

No explanation needed, take it or leave it

i don't think the GSW debased themselves last season for the 8th pick just to give it away for a player they are doing just fine without.

If the trade was to be Al for Bogut then yes, you would need to include Harrison Barnes and Jack and we would throw in Watson.

You get a All Star Caliber center and it costs you one better backup PG for a lesser back up PG... and an asset for us having to take on $14M in salary of an injured player. It also saves you from paying the luxury tax next year so it helps you out double. You can go out on the free agent market and sign some more nice pieces like you did this year with your roster.

It is a lot to give up, but you are asking the Jazz to save you from $14M and luxury tax next year in a year where we have loads of money for free agents.

I can't imagine the Warriors swinging a deal for Jefferson, not that he's not an attractive trade piece, just given the rosters there is no fit.

Now if you were talking about Derrick Favors I'm alll ears

Favors is nowhere close to being on the table for us, and I imagine the same is true of the GSW pieces that we find attractive. I don't know what package the Jazz could put together that excludes Favors, but nets us any of the following: Curry, Barnes, Thompson. Seems like we're not ideal partners.

Al Jeff isn't on the Warriors radar. Back in the previous management an Al Jeff trade could have happened. The current management believe that centers have to be defensive anchors. They retained no-offense Biedrins. They drafted no-offense Ezeli. They traded for average offense, tremendous defense Bogut.

We have Lee on a long term deal which means any centers have to be rim protectors and good help defenders.

Al Jeff on the Warriors just isn't in the cards.

I'd entertain a Favors for Stephen Curry trade....

Well, maybe I wouldn't.
