Austin Daye recent games

Post#1 » by ducler » Mon Dec 31, 2012 5:14 pm

For the couple of games he has played in december, I have to say that I didn't find him that bad. When he doesn't play like he wants to be the hero in each game, he's better. 69% behind the 3 points line is nice, even in just 7 games in December. I want to see more to judge. He and CV had the hot hand recently, but it has to be consistent, not like Bynum 2 or 3 good games per year...
Thoughts?

Neither has been particularly bad on defense either. I think their floor stretching ability really helps this team.

he is good recently but it's annoying when he put his arms in the air and cry to have the ball in every possession even if he is at the opposite side of the ball carrier!

I agree with this but Daye's value is so low that no one may actually bite unless it's a trade to make the numbers work. We've got a pretty decent problem I think..

1) Daye & CV are the same player. They both stretch the floor and are deadly 3 pt shooters. Having one serves our needs.

2) Max & JJ are the same player. Max needs to go so AD can start. We couldn't get a bag of chips for JJ right now. That said, Lebron was really ranting & raving about JJ's style of play over the off season. Perhaps Lebron can help facilitate a trade there??

i've posted this before

if Daye can minimize his stupid plays, ie making dumb passes and unforced TO's, i like him in our backup unit. His length provides extra shot blocking in the lane , and adds another rebounder not to mention shooter. Daye's problems have always been the bone headed play

something that i noted, either last game or game versus the hawks, Daye drove base line, intiated contact and hit a fade away jumper with ease. In prior years, that would have been a steal, out of bounds, or horrid pass. some what indication of improvement

He didn't look terrible, but there are tons of role players like him in the D-League.

Daye is finally being used the right way... not asking him to post up pfs (where he loses the physical advantage)... they're sliding him off a rub and letting him simply shoot over defenders.
They're keeping him away from helping to bring the ball up court (almost guaranteed t.o.)
Spotting him up on the perimeter.
On defense there's only so much lipstick to be used... but he's effective as a weak-side defender (not requiring contact).. he'll always get beat off the dribble.... but if he needs help from one of our bigs then he can rotate to the bigs primary responsibility.
Would like to play this out until the deadline... then make a final determination.
