steve (Michigan)-

With the way Drummond is playing, dispelling the work ethic issues, can he be better than A. Davis? Seems with his size and athletic ability the D. Howard comparisons are spot on.

Chad Ford-
Howard was his comp last year. Coming into last season he was the only player scouts thought could knock Anthony Davis off the No. 1 pick spot. He didn't really play up to it at UConn ... but after watching him for half of season in Detroit -- it is looking like the right comp. If he is going to keep up this learning curve and play hard all of the time, he has a chance to be better than Davis because he has more physical tools. And ... Drummond has now passed Davis as the rookie with the highest PER in the league.

Portland finally made up for screwing up the Jordan and Durant drafts. Don't give me this every team would've picked Oden, because no one knows for sure. They're all going to say that so they don't appear wise-ass status. Everyone can look like a champion in retrospect.

Maybe not everyone, but 90% would - and it would be the same right now if the same situation happened, without knowing future injuries etc.

And when it comes to Portland it ain't over till the fat lady sings - not that I hope anything but good health and long career to Lilard, but you just never know.

Lastly frank is an idiot, but he's been winning lately so he gets a pass for today

Not so sure on this. There are a few Pistons fans who agree with Frank, but that still seems to be a distinct minority. I for one still think his handling of the situation is moronic. There isn't anything to indicate that he's not ready for 30 minutes a game. In fact, his per-minute production has been better in games when he's gotten extended minutes.

I've seen him play pretty great in around 21 mins so no reason why he shouldn't get around 20 mins at least. His stamina is good enough for that you would think?

It's still crazy to think that Drummond went one spot ahead of the Hornets pick. From everything we've heard, if the Pistons had passed, the Hornets would have taken Drummond. Talk about a dynamic big duo for the next decade plus.

That would have been insane. Twin towers with a really nice overlap in skillsets.

NBA.com's Rookie plays of the calendar year 2012:

That means it will show rookies from last season as well.

Drummonds impact when he is on the court is something special, considering he is 19 years old and was expected to take some time to develop.. The way Frank was handling this at the beginning of the year was fine but its pretty obvious Andre is ahead of the curve and they need to progress his development.

Drummond has a PER of 21.6. good for 18th best in the league, and is 20th in win shares per 48 minutes where every player above him on the list is on a playoff team. He has the 9th best defensive rating in the league including being 7th in block percentage. He also ranks in the top 15 in all percentage based rebounding categories and total offensive rebounds, in short on a per minute basis there are few big men in the league that are having a bigger impact than Drummond.

While there was no need to fault Coach Franks plan for Drummond to start the season it has become clear that the 19 year old Center is well ahead of where the franchise expected him to be at this stage of his career. You don’t get many better building blocks for an NBA franchise than a game changing, defense anchoring Center especially one that falls into your lap with the 9th pick. If the Pistons want to change the recent losing ways of the franchise then Drummond is the key. The earlier and more regularly he gets the chance to play with Monroe and point guard Brandon Knight the better the chemistry of this team will be going forward.

The one thing that us piston fans consistently overlook is the fact that AD is also having a stellar start because of how frank has treated him. The reason he's not getting 30 minutes a game is because we would like to have him in some sort of rotation for the entire season. 30 minutes a game for a 19 year old kid that consistently bangs down low is quite a bit and will take its toll later on in the season. While some posters are avid about him starting, majority of the piston posters are avid about keeping him in during certain situations in which his impact could dramatically effect the games outcome. i'd rather keep drummond at 25-30minutes per game and have him consistently impact games the whole year, than have him 30 minutes and fall off during the later part of the season.

Do I want to see Drummond play more? Like many Pistons fans do, yes. Keep in mind that he's 19, he'll get his time.

That's still no excuse for at least not starting him and letting him and Monroe get comfortable playing together.

That's also kind of strange that he's asking to be taken out because he's tired..... He needs to be working through that. Like you said, he's young, so there's time, but still....

Actually Maxiell who is the incumbent starter has been playing out of his mind. Not that , that's a excuse but the player who holds the current starting spot has been playing well, it would send a negative message sitting him for playing well.

and its not really strange to be asked to be taken out. If you watch drummond and see the effort and impact he makes, not to mention he's going against the biggest guys in the league, and he's only 19 years old. its rather understandable. the 20-25minutes he plays, there are all hard minutes. Also its kind of overblown, its not like he does it every game, just 1 or 2 through this half of the season.

As much as I like Drummond I still think Davis has a higher ceiling. Drummond's athleticism is amazing for someone that's lugging around as much weight as him, but I'm more impressed with Davis' body coordination for a big man.

I'll admit it, I replayed that second Ross 3 about 5-6x. What a perfect looking J.
