Rockets will CUT Daequan Cook

Post#1 » by thegamefritz » Wed Jan 2, 2013 3:35 pm

I hope we can make room for this guy because he is a good shooter! I think he is a better shooter than Jodie and he is a little taller too, he can play SF and SG!

If he got cut by a team that is deep at the forward position and not at guard that should be a warning sign. And no he's not better than Jodie, he's even worse than him with the ball on the floor even if that's hard to believe. He's just as streaky and actually can only shoot from the corner 3.

He's too streaky. I feel that Meeks confidence is at an all time high so we shouldn't mess with it right now.

isn't meeks streaky? I would risk on any streaky shooter than to have our lane crowdede by D because we can't space the floor and that the other team is aware that there ain't real threat in the 3 point area. if you put a streaky shooter, the other team will never leave him beacuse anytime he can get it going. Also if meeks is off then atleast we have another option. Meeks is too short.

He's clearly worth a cut salary and 2 mil with the tax.

I agree. In fact, I don't know why I thought that getting Cook would mean cutting Meeks. I'll take my chances on 1 of 2 shooters getting hot + somewhat improved defense than what we have now.

Another guy that was cut and will somehow come in and save this team... This just isn't worth happening.

Jodie meeks should stay, if we have cook and meeks then we got 2 shooters, maybe cut earl clark or duhon..

Cook at age 25. Maybe in the off season if he is still out there. Not sure it would help right now. We do not want to be the Suns of a few years ago jacking up 3's and not winning games. The Magic did that a few years ago and did not do much. Coach D needs to find this teams soul and make it work.

Like, with a knife? Sounds pretty gangsta. Didn't think Texans were so masochistic.

It just shows how pathetic the Lakers organisation is if they think that a player who has just been cut by a very average team will solve any of our problems. This is John Hollinger's scouting report of Cook from a couple of years ago.

“An alleged shooter who doesn’t make shots, Cook maintained the league’s worst 2-point shooting percentage for the second consecutive season and his career is now on life support. This was an incredible feat — it didn’t seem possible for Cook to do worse than his 35.5 percent in 2008-09, but last season he made just 32.3 percent inside the arc. In particular, Cook seems fond of a step-back jumper that he can’t make, but virtually any shot inside the arc gives him trouble.”

Cook is a fairly average 36% from deep for his career. He is a waste of any money that we give him.
