Injury Talk

Post#1 » by sweet_jesus » Sat Dec 29, 2012 1:35 am

I thought I saw a similar thread once but I can't find it now. I wanted a general thread to discuss outlooks on returning players, what do you expect from them.

Amare Stoudemire: Possible New Year's Day return. What are you expecting out of Amare possibly on the second team unit. A Glen Davis clone? 16-8-2 shooting around 45-47% FG with less defensive stats. Or do you expect some greater return on this 5th-6th rd pick.?

Eric Gordon: Could be suiting up Saturday. I honestly don't know what to expect with him. Part of me thinks he's going to come out flat and shoot cold for a while til he catches fire but I also wouldn't be shocked if he shoots lights out and skyrockets up the rankings in his first week back.

Hedo Turkoglu: Traveling with the team this week. No Glen Davis for at least a month. The team has a small rotation he should jump right back in but what do you think he'll produce? 12-4-4 too optimistic with a couple 3s and at least a steal per night?

Wilson Chandler: Targeting Jan 13. Does he have any role on his team now? He always seem to play well with limited mins. but with Iggy, Gallo and Brewer there are hardly any mins there at all.

Other guys you might discuss but are in crowded situations are Bradley, Shumpert and Fields.

This also might be a good place to discuss injured players to hold or drop. This one is probably harder to discuss since the size and level of competition factor heavily in the decision to drop.

Mo Williams: Serve sprain in thumb. Didn't Chris Paul injury his thumb earlier this year and opted for surgery took him about 8 weeks to recover in the offseason. Out indefinitely label is so annoying. Has he had his second opinion yet?

Bargnani: Another out indefinitely stamp. I remember a three week projection around the time the interview where he didn't trash his team happened. That would be next week. He's probably not out on the WW anymore but with no news might not be worth stashing for some shallower leagues.

The problem is all of those players except Gordon just aren't any good IRL.

If Amare got 10/5 I'd be surprised. He's dunzo imo.

Gordon's nice if he's healthy but he got hella overrated hella quick after his one good year in LA. He's a good but not great shooter. Best-case scenario is Ben Gordon, Chicago years. 18/3/3. Fringe t50 imo.

12-4-4 prob best case for Hedo. Assists, 3PM give him fringe, place-holder value. He has a little more potential than that, maybe 15-5-4 with poor FG%.

Chandler sucks, hated him since day one. He can't shoot, does nothing to help Denver's problems. If you're desperate for rebounds I guess take a flier on him, but who's desperate for rebounds?

Bradley has potential because everyone else aside from Rondo in the BOS backcourt sucks. If he's healthy I could see him getting 30mpg because he's their only hope @ being a difference-maker. But his game isn't fantasy friendly.

Mo's a good buy low imo.

Bargnani's always sucked, would never touch him.

Do you think Mo is worth stashing til we hear about his second opinion?

Also keeping tabs on the Bogut thread in our GSW forum. I guess he started some light shoot arounds late last month.
