Which player would you rather as our backup PG next season?

Post#1 » by vege » Thu Jan 3, 2013 5:04 am

So they're both backup PGs. Player A is soon to be 30. Player B will be 26 in a few months.

Player A plays 3 more minutes in his career average than Player B.

Their numbers:

Will Bynum

2009-10 14 PER 51 TS 45 eFG 28 AST DWS 0.6 USR 20.1 3P% .218
2010-11 15 PER 52 TS 46 eFG 28 AST DWS 0.4 USR 22.5 3P% .32
2012-13 15 PER 51 TS 47 eFG 33 AST DWS 0.2 USR 25.6 3P% .44

Eric Maynor

2009-10 11 PER 49 TS 47 eFG 31 AST DWS 0.8 USR 18ish 3P% .29ish
2010-11 12 PER 48 TS 46 eFG 30 AST DWS 0.8 USR 16.5 3P% .385
2012-13 8 PER 43 TS 38 eFG 27 AST DWS 0.2 USR 17.9 3P% .325

I removed 2011-12 because one of the players was injured and the other had a bad season.

So who would you rather as the Pistons backup next season :D it's a tricky question btw so think hard before vote/reply.

I bet once the players are named people will be shocked.

* Added 3 point shooting percentages usage rates and defensive win shares duo to requests.

Defensive Win Share for both players.

09-10 - Player A 0.6 Player B 0.8
10-11 - Player A 0.4 Player B 0.8
12-13 - Player A 0.2 Player B 0.2

Player B has been better in previous years but they're equal now. None of them is a game changer on that side of the floor.

The one with the higher 3pt FG%

So picky

Player A has slightly lower TO% through his career and Player A is shooting 40%+ from 3 points this season while player B is shooting 32%

well player A has better numbers in everything you provided, so.... ill take player B, simply because the only reason to hide the names and show just specific stats is to try and up player A even though its known that player B is actually a better player.

I knew it instantly that the first one was this player X and that the second one was player Y. Wow. Not sure if I'm going to spoil this if I tell the names now.

I'll take player A any day, even though player B could be considered a better shooter (it's different this season though).

I'm taking player B. He comes from a winning culture and isn't a chucker.

Post the usage rates.

I'm not sure who either of these players are but my personal preference for backup PG is Patty Mills.

I'd let Bynum expire and pick up Patty as a FA. He gets limited minutes behind Parker for the spurs but when he does play and from watching his play with the Aussie national team you can see he runs the offense like a QB, rarely turns it over and can shoot the lights out.

Just a thought.
