Truth of the Matter or Lack of consistency

Post#1 » by Blkbrd671 » Thu Jan 3, 2013 4:35 am

Watching our boys i think we are running our best front court sets. With:

Moose/Max
CV/Dre

i personally don't think AD could consistently sustain this sort of impact throughout a entire season with 30+ minutes. He's simply too young, he plays against the biggest players with high energy and just because he's a freak of nature doesn't mean he's not subject to reality. The NBA is season is long.

I am one of the major proponents of starting Moose and Dre together, however they don't consistently show the impact that a CV/AD set shows. i don't think Moose is confident in his jump shot or that he's consistent enough with it to spread the offense allowing AD more room to be effect/impact the game. CV/AD combo makes teams pay for sinking in on AD, well at least if CV continues to play like he should have been for the past 4 years.

While i'm not a fan of Maxiell in the starting unit, he's playing above his head right now and you can't bench a player for playing well. Additionally Moose and Max seem comfortable with each other which does effect the game.

So my question to you is this:

Is this the truth of the matter or Lack of Moose and Dre consistently playing together

It would help to see more of G.M.& Dre together... certainly worth 1/2 year b4 drawing conclusions

Thats what i'm saying. is that through the half year, it seems as if running our current front court rotation is best lineups in terms of getting wins.

i don't think Moose and Dre have been effective the few times they've played togther

Drummond best lineups so far:

1 A. Drummond | C. Villanueva | W. Bynum | A. Daye | K. Singler +48.8 Points 29:12 Minutes Played
2 A. Drummond | C. Villanueva | B. Knight | A. Daye | R. Stuckey +43.2 Points 10:31 Minutes Played

8 A. Drummond | G. Monroe | B. Knight | T. Prince | R. Stuckey +9.3 Points 40:11 Minutes Played
10 A. Drummond | G. Monroe | B. Knight | T. Prince | K. Singler 0.0 Points 9:18 Minutes Played

The thing is, Drummond and CV played against 2nd unities most of the time while Drummond and Monroe always played against 1st unities.

Sorry Vege, horrible at analysising stats. so does that mean Drummond and CV are a better lineup?

Additionally though they play against 2nd units, i'm pretty sure they also play against 1 units

That means CV and Drummond have way better results together but like I said they play mostly against 2nd unities while Monroe and Drummond play against 1st unities all the time.

One important thing to not imo tho is, whenever Drummond and Monroe play together Knight is the PG and while CV and Drummond play together Bynum is the PG and Bynum has been way better than Knight regardless of the lineups so that's a huge influence.

i see the best way to do things is to trade maxiell for someone more capable of playing backup c, that can do close to what dre is doing with all the shooters in the second unit - off. reb and make up for everyones lack of defense... which is obviously not the easiest to come by but it is the perfect lineup when everyone else is a shooter, look at ny and our current 2nd unit.
if we can keep the way the second unit is playing, as well as pairing dre and monroe more then we can be a really really good team.

having bynum as the point guard isn't as much of a factor as CV spreading the floor for Drummond to grab up rebounds and be a presence. Moose being in there makes the court a little smaller and allows an extra body for the defense on rebounds. imo

Knight had 4+ game stretch with 18+ppg. Bynum has been playing really well these last 3 games. He's also a veteran with plenty of experience, not to mention finally learned his role after 4 years. Knight is a 20 year old kid, just entering his sophmore season and learning the most difficult position in the nba with a coach that is just now getting his guard rotation together.

i agree with what your saying, but also seems that you really just don't like knight.

Knight is an absolutely disaster as a PG. His age and the fact this is his 2nd season are no excuses for how bad he is.

Isaiah Thomas, Kemba Walker, Damian Lillard, Brian Roberts are all young rookies or Sophomores that are way better than Knight. The guy is BAD.

I'd be fine with him in a Jason Terry role, not as our starter PG. Stuckey experiment as PG failed yet he is so much better than Knight.

Knight can't even throw a freaking lob to Drummond...

Isaiah Thomas played 3 years of college ball and is in his second year.
Kemba Walker played 3 years of college ball and is in his second year.
Damian Lillard played 4 years of college ball and is in his 1st year.
Brian Roberts played 4 years of college, 4 years of international ball, and is now in his first year as an NBA player. We can agree that BR has had time to develop.

All of the aforementioned players have a headstart in development. Knight will get there. He has proven in glimpses that he can compete with those guys. Truth be told when he was drafted I really wanted Kemba because I was impressed with his fire.

I thought he was far ahead of Knight, but I believed Knight's potential suggested he would surpass Kemba. I still believe that.

Now if we try to compare him to Kyrie Irving, I would argue that Kyrie is just a special player. He's one of those guys who comes around and makes you pause when he plays because he's going to do something special. He reminds me a bit of a poor man's Chris Paul.

Knight is better than the Jason Terry comparison. We've got to give the kid time.

You are "absolutely" wrong. Three exceptions to your absolute: 11/2 @ PHX: 10 AST and 2 TO; 11/6 @ DEN: 9 AST and 4 TO; 11/16 vs. ORL: 12 AST and 2 TO. He has had other games with decent PG stats. How do hyperbole, extremes, and absolutes add value to sports analysis?

Jason Terry was a good player who was very productive for many years. If Knights worse case scenario is Jason Terry, that isn't too bad to end up. Hopefully, better though.

Jason Terry is a good player, but he is not a point guard. He is a instant offense spark off the bench.

I believe Brandon Knight is going to be a good player and that he will develop the tools he needs to be able to run the offense and read opposing defenses.

I'd say lack of consistency...Soon enough we'll see Dumars trade Maxiell to allow Moose and Drummond start together...I don't even think it has to do Monroe having a consistent 15ft jump shot, I think it mostly has to do with Dumars and Frank respecting our veterans...We'll see a 3-big man rotation of Monroe/Drummond/Charlie V soon...

I think Joe is going to keep Maxiel so he can be resigned 3 more years for $15 to 18 mil. Book it.
