OT: Omer in Allstar Game?

Post#1 » by krunded » Fri Jan 4, 2013 1:49 am

Not that Omer had an allstar worthy season but;

Do you think Omer has a chance to enter allstar game?

Before you answer consider his opponents;

We know Kevin Durant and Howard are getting in. Blake Griffin and Duncan are also fore sure imo. That leaves Paul Gasol, Love, Ibaka, Randolph, Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, Aldridge

Gasol is unlikely (considering two player from underachieving Lakers are getting in)
Kevin Love didnt played for the most of the season so thats a question mark.
Ibaka is a maybe (he deserves it but 3 OKC players?)
Randolph definitely deserves it and likely to get in.

So 12 player on roster, assume a 7 Frontcourt, 5 Backcourt distribution.

K.D, Howard, Griffin, Duncan, Randolph. (That leaves Gasol, Gay, Alridge and Omer)

So what do you all think?

If Omer continues his current play and if Lin is not voted in as a Starter (just 45K back!) then I do think that Asik will get the coach's nod. If Lin gets voted in there is no chance.

There will be two Rockets on the Western All-Star Scrimmage squad.

nope
too many good players in the west and they took away center position
so no need to vote for a center anymore

There's definitely 0% chance that Asik will be voted in by fans since there is no more center category. But do the coaches also vote 3 frontcourt, 2 backcourt? If so, there will be very few centers in the all star game from now on.

He's got a zero percent chance, IMO.

You have CP3, Kobe, Durant, Griffin, and Dwight as the starters.

Then I'd assume you have Westbrook, Harden and Duncan as reserves. I also think ZBo is a lock. And someone that SHOULD be a lock is David Lee, who IMO has been the best PF in the NBA this season on a 22-10 Warriors team.

That leaves two spots for any position, and I don't there's any chance Asik would make it over:

Tony Parker
Stephen Curry
LaMarcus Aldridge (despite a "meh" season thus far)
Kevin Love (same as Aldridge)
Marc Gasol
Serge Ibaka

I'm not even sure Asik would be next on that list...w/ someone from Denver potentially making a case. I love what Asik has done, but even if it was a 15 man roster, I doubt he'd make the team (unless he goes like 20/20 the rest of the way or something)..

I think Asik get the coaches nod

I hope Lin gets in so I can hear people bitch about it when they know it is just popularity contest.

I really do not care for game. To think a game filled with stars and a ton of offense is just damn boring is crazy but it is.

i wish Lin makes it. gonna make it watchable at least.

Omer and Parsons have zero chance, while Harden sneaks in.

Omer is actually second highest voted center in western frontcourt and Scott brooks is the western team coach. Considering Brooks doesn't demand Kendrick Perkins to score at OKC and the western team needs a back up center... Unfortunately for Omer, Tim Duncan can play center......... so i think the chance is very slim :(

rule changed my friend
coaches vote for 3 frontcourts (F&C) and 2 backcourts (G) plus 2 more regard of positions
in other word you can have maximum of 5 frontcourt players as backup (you don't have to vote for a center)
but because of Westbrook, Parker, Harden, Curry
you wont get 5 backup frontcourt players

starters:
Howard, Griffin, Durant, Bryant, Paul

frontcourt players that have better chance than Asik
Aldridge
Duncan
Lee
Randolph
Ibaka

Asik would be pretty horrible to watch in this game, unless he caught everything.

I think Home town will play role along with the fact that Asik has been very Good. Now If Lin gets voted in then i doubt Asik makes it. I just think there will be two Houston players

Hometown means nothing Asik wont get voted in unless a lot of people get hurt.

Last year Ryan Anderson didnt get a spot in Orlando and he was praise all over the place, i mean wasn't he putting up 20ppg at the break?

People were raising hell that Deng got a spot and his team had the beast record.

In Dallas ASG the only reason they got a 2nd AS is because 3 players from the west got hurt and Kidd was a replacement.

0% is a little harsh....

If everybody on that allstar team died on a plane crash, Asik have a chance to make it as a replacement. #optimism

Then they would cancel the game. Probably cancel the season as well.
