pheonix vs phoenix

Post#1 » by PerkinsFor3 » Fri Jan 4, 2013 8:39 am

I see it happen so often, is it just a typo... or does it refer to something I'm oblivious to?

Thou shalt spell the word “Pheonix” P-H-E-O-N-I-X not P-H-O-E-N-I-X, regardless of what the Oxford English Dictionary tells you.

Not a slight towards anybody, just curious.

It's a coordination issue. You never type "E" and "O" with the same hand, and the spacing between the keys allows both your hands to be fully on the keyboard at the same time. With your right hand you must press 3 keys (P, H and O) while your left hand stays idle, to press the "E" while your right hand gets settled (<-- happens with this word too) to press the next "N". In this time gap between the "O" and the "N" with the right hand, eventually the idle left hand gets bored for not participating and presses the E too soon.

I'm gonna do a thesis on this....

I have the same issues when typing in Dutch as wwell. 'niet' always ends up as 'neit' in mails. ALWAYS. Good one.

Vowel inversions arent uncommon in typos. Their always gets me...I always want to go with thier even though I know its wrong.
