Chris Paul doesn't focus on the what ifs

"Never, ever – ever, ever," he told USA TODAY Sports emphatically on Wednesday night when asked how often he wonders what life with the Lakers might have been like before commissioner David Stern vetoed the deal with New Orleans back then for those infamous "basketball reasons." "

And why would he?

The game itself will come with some consequence, though, even if Clippers forward Blake Griffin said it was "just like any other game." The Clippers, who beat the Lakers without Steve Nash on Nov. 2, don't want to lose a third game in a row. The Lakers, whose fans so often point to the title count between the two organizations (16 to zero) as their ultimate defense, need a win like this to keep momentum moving forward after winning six of their last eight games.

"It's a big deal for us," said reserve small forward Lamar Odom, the longtime Laker who was traded to the Clippers during the summer. "What's most fun is to be here and to really see the change in (expectations), as far people expecting us to come out and play at a high level. That's fun."

Said reserve small forward Matt Barnes, who signed the Clippers in the summer after spending his last two seasons with the Lakers: "Any time you play an old team, and it's the talk of the town – Lakers-Clippers - it's going to be a fun one."

Sam Amick, USA Today

Big game for both teams tonight. Not so much bragging rights or anything like that, because the fact of the matter is that both teams really need a win right now. The Lakers have fallen under .500 by a game and are currently the 11th placed team in the West. The Clippers have started off 2013 without a bang by getting beat handily in 2 straight contests.

Any team can beat any other team on any given night. We recently won 17 straight games most of which were with ease. Following that up with losses to playoff caliber teams in convincing fashion, you start to wonder what team you will actually see out on the floor tonight. The team that was on top of the world less than a week ago or a team that has struggled to keep up over the last 2. Can our defense regain its form? Can slumping players rise out of their funk? Will we be able to actually grab a rebound? Who knows? All I know is that the team must once again play with purpose, confidence and poise if we're hoping to get the victory.

I am hoping that we start out aggressively on both sides of the court. We need to run the Lakers out of the gym, only WP & Kobe will be able to keep up w/ the pace.
I am also hoping that Gasol doesn't turn his back to the basket & hop into the lane "butt 1st" getting wek As%ed calls. As Gasol is getting slower he really is relying on his buttocks to get him into the paint more and more; maybe DJ or Blake should just pull the chair.
Clippers need this, hoping they aren't looking towards tomorrow night too early. I am also hoping that Bled comes back to form!

Us winning this game has nothing to do with being 2-0 over the "other" LA team on the season. I just want us to get back on track and keep that crucial lead in the Pac Div and West Conf going plus GSW on Saturday!

Lets Go Clips!

BTW that Kobe/Pau pic is disturbing

Are there a lot of Laker fans in Australia? Bogut/Warrior fans?

LOL finally someone else said it... i've been arguing this for YEARS with laker fans... dumbasses....

"purple in the PR seats are for the LAKERS" LOL... and people were saying i was blowing out of my arse...

The Clippers play in the Lakers’ arena.

Well, technically the Lakers and Clippers play in the Los Angeles Kings’ arena. The Staples Center was built by Kings owners Philip Anschutz and Ed Roski in 1999 and attracted the Lakers and Clippers as tenants, as well. Lakers owner Jerry Buss and Clippers owner Donald Sterling had nothing to do with the building of Staples Center and don’t own it. Considering all the Lakers banners in the building and statues outside the building, however, I can understand the confusion.

i think i should get +4230948230 for this one :P

Are there a lot of Laker fans in Australia? Bogut/Warrior fans?

Lakers bandwagon is massive here. It's like the Bulls of the 90s picking up a ton of casual fans. I know like a hundred Aussie laker fans through my rec leagues or Aussie forums, but i doubt 10% could name most of their squad.

There aren't really too many Bogut fans around where I am, I would say they are well wishers. Patty Mills is the big thing here, I'm actually about 3 miles from where he grew up, and played against him a few times as a kid. The Mills/Bogut followers werent/aren't actually fans of the Bucks/Warriors/Blazers/Spurs.

Clippers need to exploit the Lakers age, come out strong and play with a lot of energy EARLY to set the tone. Then the bench can come in and extend that vs. opponents' bench, as they have all year.

If we do that we will win. If not, it will come down to those crucial 4th quarter possessions, and the Lakers are still pretty good there with Kobe.

We really need to win this one. I have confidence that we will, just need to get those last two losses off my mind.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
